About this listen

The path from retail middle management to inter-dimensional wizard adventurer wasn’t easy.

But Jason Asano is settling into his new life. Now, a contest draws young elites to the city of Greenstone to compete for a grand prize. Jason must gather a band of companions if he is to stand a chance against the best the world has to offer.

While the young adventurers are caught up in competition, the city leaders deal with revelations of betrayal as a vast and terrible enemy is revealed. Although Jason seems uninvolved, he has unknowingly crossed the enemy’s path before. Friends and foes made along the way will lead him to cross it again. Inevitable conflict looms....

probably one of the best audio books I've ever come across. it's hilarious, deeply political in a certain odd way.

the reading is fantastic, besides the skill percentages/levels, as the can become annoying when too many are thrown at ya at once.

hilarity and politics

Occasionally I catch myself thinking 'it's just a gaming book' and then the author springs another philosophical debate or another truly Aussie over the top moment and I love it all over again. After getting through the first two books this week I'm just dreading I might get to the end to the series...

Great story, great characters, great narration

Only thing I found really very strange was us, the reader being reminded, 3 times I think it was… that Jason’s leeches are gender fluid. And then Jason talking to Amir, somehow relating that to real world transgender individuals. It served absolutely no purpose other than to make real world political commentary. Other than that, it was very enjoyable👌

Solid

Great story once again from that guy Shirtaloon! The narrator does such a good job on the voices the “Jason/Rufus/Sophie said” isn’t necessary. Apart from that I’m about to download the third book!

Love it!
