Publisher's Summary

Every disaster brings an opportunity.

Goth Sullus and his empire have fallen.

With the Legion and the rest of the galaxy watching from the still-smoldering galactic core, Carter, a former legionnaire turned private contractor, and Jack Bowie, a Navy spy with nowhere left to turn, sign up to work for an enterprising private contractor looking to make a statement on the planet Kublar.

Plans are in motion dating back to the Savage Wars, and as the galaxy rushes to fill in the vacuum created by the fall of the Imperial Republic, the bodies are hitting the floor.

But every plan has a reckoning…

Takeover is the thrilling aftermath of the final, desperate execution of Article Nineteen and the looming rebirth of the Legion and the galaxy itself as Galaxy’s Edge: Season Two begins!

Bring back RC Bray

While I enjoyed this reading, RC Bray is to me the real voice of this series

FELL ASLEEP

If the previous books are anything to go by then this story will be just as good, however;... I couldn't follow the relaxed narrative with little to no expression of points, excitement or situational moments.. Sorry guys, almost made it to chapter 2 before removing a paid book. Good luck with the rest of series 2.

A good start to season 2

I like the narrator in other books. But when switching narrators mid series it is important to keep pronunciation the same. Every time he reads out the name "Chhun" I think a little part of me dies inside.

New timeline, new narrator, great story.

Good story and great narration. It took me a few minutes to adjust to the new narrator (and his style) for this series. The timeline for this book happens a number of years after the end of book 5, so that helped me adjust to a new set of characters and story line. After a couple of chapters, the narration really starts to shine, bringing the new characters to life.

not the same without RC bray

Not the same without RC Bray. Ray Porter is brilliant, but it's just not the same. Plus, kind of feel this story wasn't the greatest of the series

Ups and downs as we head back to galaxys edge!

Wow what a ride, new people, new players in the mix wild back stories to draw you in. Not the same amount of KTF we are used to now the legionaries are scattered but always good to hear a koob go splat! Nick and Jason have build an amazing galaxy that any fan can get lost in. Highly recommend the whole series!

An excellent start to Season 2 of Galaxy's Edge

Takeover is set in the aftermath of the death of Goth Sullus and the Republic. The stories of Carter, a former Legionnaire, and Bowie, a former spy, intertwine as their new employer tries to wrest control of Kublar from what’s left of Republic forces. Carter’s story is pure military fiction. Raids, battles, and gunfights burn through his tale. Any reader who enjoys run-and-gun fiction will get their money’s worth just from Carter. The plot of Bowie’s exploits is more understated, but just as riveting. This is pure cloak-and-dagger storytelling, and it’s done masterfully. There’s a lot of action here, but it’s short and violent when compared to Carter’s firehose of non-stop combat. Both stories are done by masters of the art. The plots flow beautifully, and I found myself glued to Takeover as Ray Porter read it to me. His narration was spot on, changing tone and cadence when switching between the two plot lines. If you’ve enjoyed the first season of Galaxy’s Edge, you’ll love Takeover’s introduction to Season Two.

Great kickoff to season 2 with one slight

I will say I loved this book and could not put it down. I ate this story up and can not wait for more. Ray Porter’s acting was stellar as usual as well. My only slight misgiving is that I was slightly disappointed to see that Ray Porter didn’t apparently have the chance to listen to the way RC Bray pronounces Chhun’s name or how Bray voiced a certain character that returns for a cameo from the first season. I was hoping he would be given samples to maintain some continuity of characters between the performances, but I assume this was a timetable thing. That said Porter’s work is stellar as usual and I can not WAIT for more!

It's Chun not Ca-Hoon

This book was really great I always enjoy this series. Jason on Spock and Nick Cole never cease to amaze. I just wish that re Porter would have listened to RC Bray pronounce everyone's name. Not knowing how to pronounce the main character of the other 5 books is something that's very irritating.

Great writing, Poor narration

So excited for season 2 and the great writing continues! But please... Give us back RC Bray! Ray porter sounds like a bored detective recalling case that happened 15 years ago.

What a great ride we are getting on again

Jason and Nick have done it again! This book is starting us off on another great ride with season 2 of Galaxys Edge. More action, more KTF, and intrigue. I love Ray Porters work and he does a great job reading a lot of the side stories in GE. My only complaint is that I do not know if he listened to RC Brays reading of season 1 and chose to pronounce some characters name drastically differently than what the community accepts as the standard pronunciation.

Awesome story but bring back Bray, this narrator sucks. The mispronunciation of the original characters name almost ruined it for me.

Changing to Porter from R.C. Bray?!

If you’re this far along. You’re used to Bray’s voice acting and it so damned good. This is killing me. I’m going to try to make it through, I don’t hate Porter’s voice acting, but he isn’t RC Bray... I’ll update once I’ve finished listening, if I make it.

Fantastic Entry in this Series

I was initially not thrilled with the new narrator, however, he grew on me quickly. Perhaps the conversational/editorial tone of this book is better suited to his talents than the Requiem for Medusa title he also voiced. The story is intriguing and keeps you listening / turning pages. As always a few familiar faces make an appearance, but we are now on another wild goose chase that I am excited to be a part of. The overall tone is fairly comedic and as previously stated, "editorialized" in a funny way, as if you are riding along the story as the internal voice of the character instead of being loosely told what they are thinking or feeling. It's a cool way to tell the story and lets the authors give a lot more "personality" to the story itself and certainly the individual characters. I've yet to read a bad book from these two, this is no exception. They've flipped the narrative a bit on some familiar humanoids and I found myself at the end feeling like "why do I suddenly like so-and-so" which is always cool. They found a way to endear certain characters to you that you would otherwise despise if you're familiar with the story already. Well done, can't wait for the next one.

Disappointing start to season 2

Suffered through the first 5 chapters and couldn't continue. Narrator is so dull and sounds thoroughly uninterested but mostly the story has failed to captivate me. Very disappointed as the season 1 titles are all fantastic and R C Bray narrated it brilliantly

just Ok

clearly just another build up story laying the ground for the rest of season 2 , didn't really make sense until the end. goth sullas seems to have been replaced fairly quickly . good story though a bit drawn out in places and takes a bit long to get to the point. clearly being based on the middle east with the Muslims playing the part of the ghee but we got that for a while now and again its very pro american veteran/military type of writing. think authors are trying to hard to base it on recent conflicts and yet make it original but still borrow from star wars, LOTR and even Peter Pan through out the series, hope the next book is better Producers need to do better when there is a change of narrator in a long running series, Ray Porter is good enough but they all should have at least checked RC Brays Pronunciation seeing as he has done 5 parts already bit annoying and amaturish..,if thats even a word!lol when you hear chhu-hooon

Great continuation

I love Galaxy’s Edge books and read the Takeover series last year in parts but listening made it so much better, I am not a huge fan of Ray Porter and can’t listen to him narrating the Tyrus Rechs books past the first chapter, he has improved (or my standards have dropped) I would advise him to listen to the RC Bray GE books so he doesn’t not continue his bastardisation of the characters names

Ray Porter is awful

I really hope this was a one off. Ray Porter really let's this book down. I have been really enjoying this series up untill this one. He doesn't bring the characters to life at all and his narration style seems to feel like he just can't be bothered to be there.

Assuming our interest

You know when a TV show sort of assumes you're going to show up and doesn't really think about how to keep you engaged or interested? Well that's what we have here. The story is perfectly fine and there's nothing really to complain about. Most of the characters are hard to differentiate from previous books because ultimately you have a limited set of personalities that might getting upto this kind of action adventure. If you're on the fence about reading/listening to this it probably makes sense to wait for the next book or two to see if anything truly interesting happens.
