Narration is first class

This book is a great example of Gritty SciFi set in the Warhammer universe. A “conclusion” to the arc started in Horus Rising.

Tony Longworth’s narration is brilliant and helps lift the text into audio art.

Great read,

Pretty fun listen! Of the trilogy, this was definitely the weakest but it still hooked me in.

also the narration is great, solid work by him!

Lucky Number Three

Of the three first novels in the series, this one is the most fluently written and paced. Considering everyone likely knows what’s going to happen, the ‘how’ of it happening is well constructed and the characterisation is much stronger and more consistent than the previous novels.

Another great book

This is an other great book in the series. the narration is spot on. the story keeps you engaged the whole way through. it builds up a familiarity with the characters and you start to care about what happens to them. the only down side I would saves the huge volume increase with the music at the start of chapters when wearing head phones.

Carnage of Betrayal

Saddening downwards spiral of brothers betraying one another, and the realization of everything the characters know being turned against them. Beautiful proformance by Toby Longworth from start to finish, realizing the true emotion of each of the characters.

Shorter then the others, but still good.

My only real criticism is that it's several chapters shorter then the previous books, but despite that it was awesome.

Fantastic

Great Book, narrated masterfully. As a science fiction lover I have high standards, this has met them in most areas and surpassed them in a few others.

The Music in-between parts of the book is way too

The Music in-between parts of the book is way too loud, had to take off head phones at parts of the audio book because of this.

Beautiful and heartbreaking

My only real experience with warhammer and the HH came from this trilogy so I had no idea of what was to come. Phenomenal writing with characters you actually care for and narration that brings it all to life. This as with Horus Rising and False Gods was one of my favorite audio books.

Entertaining but music interludes annoyingly loud

I enjoyed this story but the music volume in the interludes while adding to the mood and atmosphere were way too loud.

Farewell, Toby Longworth

I loved Toby's narration and the voices he gave each character making it easy and memorable to the conversations and how it was said. I've been enjoying the audiobook series and eager to start the next one.

Slow start but solid drama at end

After listening to an excellent book 1 and a very decent book 2, I initially struggled with the third book as the author's power of description was less compelling for me, little dialogue or drama. This was a shame as I had gotten to like the central characters and the dilemmas they had been facing but the book significantly improves after the first half dozen chapters.

Another month to find out more, really?

Lacks for some meaningful dialogue; perhaps some "where did it all go wrong?" philosophising between the loyalists, something that would make the protagonists - into whom we have invested over twenty-four hours - more human, and thus their murders more tragic.

an excellent start to an ongoing saga.

so, when discovering this saga i was told that the first three books set the tone.
and thats certainly correct.
many aspects of betrayal and a whole host of issues are resolved here. say more will give away the plot I think, but this is most certainly the way this trilogy of books should have ended. well narrated, and voiced for the many characters, and a good breath of life for the instances that set the heresy in full motion. very much looking forward to continuing this saga.

Gripped by heresy

I was truly gripped by this book. many times I had to pull myself away, yet wanted to know how the new chapter finished.
I listened to hours at time, lost within the unfolding of the heresy.

Toby Longworth did a superb job narrating, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

I now look forward to the next book into the series.
