“There was a truth once. Truth we shared in the dark and scribed scars upon our hearts. There was a lie once. A lie that shattered our truth apart.” Eleanor Grace did the unbelievable. She fell for a man who trades in women, dabbles in myth, and has the morals of a cold-hearted beast. However, love isn’t enough where past sins are concerned, and only pain can follow.

Publisher's Summary
The last book in the New York Times best-selling dark romance series. Where love tries to triumph and darkness continues to reign...

OMG - Tears!
I don't cry - seriously ! I don't! Haven't in years - until last night...
It is a rare story that can capture me so thoroughly - and this series did exactly that. I've been flipping between the ebook at my desk at work and the audiobook everywhere else, because I couldn't stand being away from the world so beautifully crafted and the people I'd come to care about, worry about, and so love to hate!
I'm not going to give up any spoilers - others have done that already - and even having read other reviews I was not prepared for the impact of what happened. I knew something big was coming - it was inevitable. Becoming vested in Needle and Kite, Nila and Jet, and their growth through the 6 books in this series - their fight and growth and evolution - their love and light - their F****d up family and circumstances - their fight and ultimate triumph over it all was emotionally draining and utterly fulfilling.
Sometimes Love Does Conquer All.
Sometimes one of the Good Guys doesn't make it to the end.
Sometimes there is Redemption!
Sometimes the Wrong Thing done for the Right Reason is Good.
Thankfully, short the epilogue, this series is intact in audio already. The cliffhangers at the end of each book would make it unbearable to wait for the next book to come out on Audio!
I've already purchased the audiobooks for two other series - they're next up. I'll be redoing this series on Audio (maybe when the Epilogue is released) and have put Ms Winters on my "must get" list for anything else she comes out with!
If you're not totally repulsed by the darkness and graphic details of medieval and psychological torture, leaving your heart shuddering and cold, then know that you will be lightened and warmed by the hard won victory and healing at the end, making it all worth it!!!

nila is a dumb slut and should (did?) die
spoilers ahead......
really, your life is on the line and you have to fuck. instead of leaving you make Jethro fuck you so Cut can get you? then you make her stupid again and have her talk to bonnie and ask her questions and brag instead of killing her immediately and escaping, or escaping when Cut sat next to bonnie while she died. what a stupid character. I won't read another pepper winters book. it was predictable, but I didn't know it was going to be because the main female character was so stupid. Way to create such a horribly stupid character pepper. you are ridiculous. you'd think as a woman you'd create a woman that could be looked up to by both sexes instead of looked down upon by both sexes. I couldn't even listen to the voice of the narrator of nila anymore after hearing how low her iq was. she should have died, not kestrel.

Excruciatingly slow and boring
I started with book one. It didn't really hold my attention but it seemed like it had potential and got a lot of good reviews on here so I kept waiting for it to get better. I moved to book two. Again, I kept waiting for it to get better because it had potential, it did not. I decided to try the last book in the series and couldn't even get through half of it. Three wasted credits!
The narrators
Its hard to say whether or not they did a good job because the story was so long-winded it was exhausting. I'd definitely try to listen to them again if possible.
The story
First of all, the main characters are annoying, fickle and extremely weak. Its like the writer didn't have much content to add to the story so she made them repeat the same thing over and over and over and over and over again. Lots of unnecessary and extremely long monologues. Even the sex scenes were cringe worthy.
Definitely NOT worth the credit.

One of the best audio series I have listened to!
Pepper Winter's Indebted series has stolen my heart for quite some time. I have enjoyed countless hours learning about Nila and Jethro's story. I have felt every emotion imaginable as I experienced this series. It is like none other I have been exposed too. Pepper Winters has an incredible way of making you absolutely hate a character, then find a way to redeem them throughout this series. In a world where family debts are to be repaid, prices are high and tensions soar. The conclusion to the Indebted series is beautifully written. The strings that unraveled throughout this series have been tied, making for an unforgettable conclusion.
P.S. Will M. Watt and Kylie C. Stewart do a phenomenal job with the narration of this story. They each have a way of making each and every character come to life throughout the story. Their versatility and ability to enhance Pepper Winter's work was incredible. There were times they each portrayed diabolical characters, then switched to loving and tender characters the next. I was completely enthralled with their work and can't wait to read other stories from them again in the future!

Amazing Series!
This series is so amazing! Seriously, who thinks of this stuff! Pepper Winters is such an incredible storyteller of dark romance. I've read and listened to all of her series now and I want more. She is just so great with descriptions that you feel as if you are there with the characters, you feel what they feeling, see what they see.
The narrators did an awesome job bringing the story to life for us Audiobook fans.

Edge-of-Seat Dark Mystery/Romance
Pepper Winters’ 6.5 books in the “Indebted” series have compelling elements of mystery, crime family, romance, erotica, and history genres all wrapped up in one very dark package. This saga of love and war among two very dysfunctional families packs a wallop.
Nyla Weaver is a successful, famous 28-year-old fashion designer who is rich with generations of family money as well as her own. Her well-known English family carries itself with old money grace and elegance. Her mother “left” the family years ago, but her father (Tex) and twin brother (Vaughn) shelter her like a small child; as a result, she often behaves like one. Nyla is introverted and unaware of her complex family history.
Jethro Hawk is the 29-year-old heir apparent to the Hawk family fortune. His English family comes from new money. His father and 2 brothers (Kass and Daniel) are quite crude and unrefined. A daughter lives as a disabled recluse on the property. Grandmother is refined and smart as a fox. The Hawks are the arch enemies of the Weaver family, though initially we do not know why. The Hawk family earns its money by means of illegal/nefarious activities. They also lead a vicious gang of motorcycle thugs who act as enforcers for the Hawk family.
While at a fashion show In Italy, Nyla’s dad pushes her into a date with a mysterious and heretofore unknown man. Nyla’s protective brother is suspicious but she somewhat reluctantly goes along. The cold, aloof man in black leather introduces himself to Nyla as Jethro Hawk. Without much ado, he spirits her away on his motorcycle, drugs her, gets her on a plane, and flies her to the Hawk family’s medieval castle in England.
In addition to the fear about her abduction and imprisonment by a savage stranger, Nyla is left with confusion about her protective, loving father’s apparent part in a sick, well-executed plot against her.
It is on the Hawk estate that Nyla gradually learns about the Weaver and Hawk families’ 600-year feud. She also learns about the purpose of her “visit” there and the terrifying role she will play — all to honor a long and twisted family tradition.
The courage and tenacity of Nyla and her few supporters is what keeps this series moving. This small group undergoes every form of gratuitous abuse, violence, subjugation, and continuous obstacles that can be imagined in their efforts to escape their horrific circumstances.
If you have read Natasha Knight’s “Dark Legacy” series (3 books), you will notice a very similar plot and similarly dark themes to the “Indebted” series. “Dark Legacy” is equally well done and creepy. I recommend both series!
What I like about this series: 1. Extremely well-developed characters. We become very knowledgeable about the characters’ motives, personalities, Achilles heels, and unfortunate backgrounds. We become very invested in several characters’ personal issues and battles. We fight alongside our favorites to free the good guys in the Weaver-Hawk feud. 2. Jethro’s portrayal as a sensitive, emotional man. We don’t often see this type of male character in any genre, so it’s a refreshing change! I realize Jethro starts out as an Alpha, but he himself describes it as a purposeful cover for his authentic, sensitive self. 3. Incredible detail in the stories of the past, the documented agreements, the physical environments (inside and out), and the events. Obviously, Ms. Winters did a lot of planning and research in order to lay out such a complex set of interconnecting story lines. 4. The narration — in particular, Will Watt — is phenomenal! What a talent to narrate so many male voices of various ages and make them stand out as individual characters. Really well done!
What I did NOT like about this series: 1. The male and female main characters have sex every 20 minutes and at the most unreasonable moments. For instance, the female MC almost dies at one point, is resuscitated, and then returns to the house to immediately have sex with the male MC. Each of the many times that these two have sex, we hear about it in excruciating detail from start to finish. Sex scenes are great, but there is just too much. 2. Every time the female MC suggests sex, talks during sex, or asks for something during sex, she cries/whines like an injured cat. If a real-life man had been in bed with this whiny woman, he would have left after (or during) the first encounter, never to return!
I truly enjoyed this series and found myself on the edge of my seat during the couple of weeks in which I read all 6 books. I could not wait to get back to the books when I had to work. Even my husband started asking for updates on the story! I highly recommend the “Indebted” series!
Trigger Warning: The 6 books in this series describe human behavior at its most depraved, brutal, and evil. I have read hundreds of dark romances, and this series is in the top two in terms of sexual depravity and violence against women. If you have any triggers for physical, psychological, or sexual abuse, or for torture, you should probably pass on the series.

Thought there was no way she...
Could get anymore stupid. We'll Congratulations Nila, you went from TSTL to the literal dumbest b*tch ever! Like ever. All time #1 champion in utter stupidity in all of the fictional book universe. I can't even get into it or this will just he a novel length review and ranting. Don't even get me started on her pathetic moral conflicts on killing men who are raping, brutalizing, and will inevitably murder her. Just understand this; she is the dumbest heroine out of any book I've ever read. Ever. And as well all know there are massive amounts of TSTL heroines.
This b*tch could've prevented nearly EVERYTHING that happened to her. Nearly all of it she had opportunities to avoid. Including the worst of it, in which she refused to go through a certain field because she was afraid of wild animals when the alternative was some of the WORST torture imaginable.

The final debt!
The final debt! I knew what it was supposed to be, but in true Pepper Winters style, I was taken on a journey that made me cringe, hate, love and cheer as I listened. It picks up right where book 5 leaves off and Nyla is with Cut and Daniel to complete the final debt. But history may not repeat itself as expected. Twists, turns, realizations and a lot of history that gave me a better understanding of just how things started and where it is going. I think Jethro is one of my favorite characters Winters has created. He has so many layers, and his emotions are so deep, it became an obsession of mine to see what was going to happen to him. Nyla is so strong and resilient with a love that drove her to do what needed to be done. With a cast of truly crazy, evil and wonderful characters, the story was intense and exciting. I can't wait to listen to the epilogue to see where the family ends up.
Will Watt and Kylie Stewart finish out the series with their fabulous narration. Each emotion, each inflection and each nuance guided me through the story making me squirm and love. They brought it all to life and enhanced the book with their storytelling.

Crazy beautiful story
This story had me feeling every emotion from anger and frustration to crushing lows and even higher love. When I first started I was not sure if I liked any of the people but then you learn more with Nila and you see how and why she did what she did. I hated cut and Daniel but by the time the story was done I found away to understand each person. That does not mean that what horrible things they did was okay. They all tried to live with what they thought was right at the time even if it made me want to smack some of them but you see that every look and action all comes together for an amazing end. It makes you feel that life is Precious and fleeting and that you should always live your truth. I am so happy to have experienced this story.

Mediocre to the end...
The final instalment of this series. While it certainly wasn't my favourite i appreciated the work and effort Pepper Winters put into this series. The 600 year old debt that both families adhere to was completely idiotic to me but the characters and twist and turns in the plot was enough to keep me reading to the end.. albeit skimming. The chemistry between Nila and Jethro was smouldering, much more passionate in earlier books, but I guess that reflects reality! Mila should probably be in therapy for the rest of her life after the ordeal she went through. The woman is rock solid, such a strong character.A lot of action is packed into this book, but for me tears of Tess and the dollar series by far supersedes this.. particularly the dollar series. This last book in the series provided a vast amount of history and background on the debt and how it came about. Since I wasn't convinced on this aspect of the story I found it boring to say least. However if you bought into that then understanding the who, what, where and why would mean this is utter bliss for you.

Indebted series. Thank you pepper winters.
Wow, amazing, what can I say, I've cringed I've swore I've shouted, I've screamed, I've loved after reading all this 6 books in the series. The heroine in the story has gone through the most horrific torture imaginable but love conquers all in the end. Anybody who gets the chance to read this story will fall in love with some characters in the story, , hate some of the others. You will never know what will happen from one book to the other, so many twists and turns. Sadness in parts, great erotic sex in others. You feel her pain her torment and you never know if she will breathe her last breath of life. Enjoy the best story I think has ever been written. Thank you pepper winters for your great story. I loved it. X
