Publisher's Summary

The first three adventures in the million-selling Feathers and Fire series: Unchained, Rage, and Whispers.

"Kevin Hearne, Jim Butcher, K.F. Breene, and now Shayne Silvers has been added to my favorite Urban Fantasy Authors list." (Michael Anderle, Amazon Top 25 best-selling author)

Who is Callie Penrose?

They say she’s been kissed by Heaven - whatever the Hell that means. Because Callie was orphaned on the steps of a church in Kansas City, and doesn’t know her parents. She starts out as a rookie wizard who hunts monsters for the Vatican. Except…ironically, she’s never been a churchy kind of girl, and she quickly learns that monsters can reside anywhere

Even among the most devout.

Get ready for Callie to take you on a gripping adventure into a new kind of Sunday School. Be on your best behavior, because she won’t crack a ruler over your knuckles to teach you a lesson - more like whips of fire and brimstone to your face.

Hell hath no fury like Callie Penrose. And that’s before she discovers her strange childhood ties to a jerk named Nate Temple in St. Louis....

If you like Jim Butcher, Sarah J. Maas, Kevin Hearne, Steve McHugh, Michael Anderle, Ilona Andrews, Patricia Briggs, Shannon Mayer, or K.F. Breene, you won't be able to put down the highly addictive Feathers and Fire series.

The characters are very inconsistent.

I was really enjoying the series, until this book. The main characters willingness to all of a sudden sacrifice her father figures life and beliefs. For a so called greater good. When in the other books she was willing to destroy everything for a friend. Such a selfish and shallow personality. Truly disappointed with the direction.

Maybe start with Nate

I was new to this author so I was unfamiliar with his writing style. I went all in getting the series 1-3 and 4-6. I enjoy going in order and soaking it all in. Just a little something about this series, it apparently intertwines with his other books... who knew. Yes, they could be stand alone novels if you accept all of the private jokes you aren’t in on. All of the friendships made without you and the fun / crazy times where you were left at home for even though you were here for every book in Callie’s story. This irked me. But I like order and completeness hence getting all 6 books at once. She apparently had tons of side stuff happened that I wasn’t privileged to. That being said it is a cool storyline. I love the narrator Nicole Poole one of the reasons I went all in. I feel incomplete after finishing book 6 because I still don’t have all of the information. I’d like to start at the beginning of this author’s work and listen to everything in order to gain perspective. Callie goes from never doing certain things to hey something happened to change her but nope not in this book kind of personality changes. Don’t get me started on Roland... but it is a good series. It’s just seemly part of a much bigger storyline. One I hope to enjoy in order

Great value for the money (or credit)!

A tale of a female protagonist who doesn't know who she is, working for the church and mouthy as hell. Honestly it is pretty mundane for urban fantasy (not a complaint, I am writing a book that isn't really any different either). While filled with some cliches, and not the most fresh take it is interesting. The characters are good (I like Callie), the storyline is interesting enough. There is something extra that I can't quite point out (which is why I bought the next five books, they come in three book sets for the first six books). It is a good read, goes pretty quickly but don't expect something revolutionary. Its like an American Diner experience, it doesn't surprise, but it does hit the notes you want and leaves you full.

Hell yes

If you think you don’t like this genre just do yourself the favor and give these a listen anyway. If you think you don’t like angels and demons do yourself the favor and give these a listen. I absolutely love this series. These are just damn good stories. Not much going on romantically just damn good stories and characters. Definitely on my 2019 favorite list.

Another Shayne Silvers series that I love!

I started this series after reading the Nate Temple series and loving it. I loved the story! The narrator enunciates everything perfectly, but it was often like being read to by Siri, sounding very robotic. But that was not enough to make me stop the series.

Is the heroine a selfish teenage brat?!?

I love the writing style of Shayne Silvers, the Nate Temple series was really fun and entertaining. That being said, I take issue with most of his female characters. They are all written as spoiled, selfish, self-absorbed whiners; it’s so frustrating! I returned this box set after 6 hours of listening to the main character Callie act like a 15 year old git. Disappointing

Great story.

This series has it all. angels vs demons, vampires, werewolves, witches, and more. very enjoyable. The voice actress keeps you pulled in with various inflections.

Fun series.

I definitely enjoyed the books but the third book wrapped up in a hurried way. The story did neatly conclude but some of the characters just turned up at the end and the main character was suddenly a lot less powerful and had to fight harder than she should have needed to for no reason.

Feathers and Fire

This is a fun lovely three book series, with loads of new experiences, and skills. Read brilliantly by Nicole Poole.

Another great Shayne Silver series ....but......

I have been a fan/reader of Silvers books for the past 18 months or so, but this is my first audible version of his books. The story as expected is great and the performance is better than other audible books I’ve listened to. My only issue was , the narration seemed to be running faster than it should be. I first double checked to make sure the speed was set to x1.0 and it was. Something that might be related to the speed issue was the occasional skipping/glitching that seemed to happen at the end of some sentences. It didn’t happen enough to stop me listening but enough to annoy me.
