About this listen

The true story of one woman's triumph of faith.

Newlywed American missionary Darlene Deibler Rose survived four years in a notorious Japanese prison camp set deep in the jungles of New Guinea. Thinking she was never to see her husband again, Darlene Rose was forced to sign a false confession and face the executioner's sword, only to be miraculously spared.

I didn’t cry like people said they did but I was multi-tasking and I did get teary at points.
The first 8 chapters I found a bit slow and if it was a book I would have given up but since audio books are so effortless and given that the reviews were glowing I kept listening and then I couldn’t stop. I think I consumed this book within about 4-6 days. That’s saying something for a mother of two under 5! It has been a great encouragement to my faith and boulster to be more prayerful and more diligent in memorising scripture. Not as engaging as Corrie Ten Boom’s ‘The Hiding Place’ but still a powerful listen and amazing testament to the power of having scripture hidden in your heart so the Holy Spirit can use it to minister to you when you need it most. I’m

it would have been better if the narrator knew Indonesian. Her pronunciation of Indonesian words and phrases was a bit off. But the story was awe inspiring. I would have loved to read a sequel, particularly with more emphasis on the Dani people of Papua.

A remarkable woman
