About this listen

Lawrence brings the Broken Empire series to its devastating conclusion

The path to the throne is broken – only the broken can walk it

The world is cracked and time has run through, leaving us clutching at the end days. These are the days that have waited for us all our lives. These are my days. I will stand before the Hundred and they will listen. I will take the throne no matter who stands against me, living or dead, and if I must be the last emperor then I will make of it such an ending.

This is where the wise man turns away. This is where the holy kneel and call on God. These are the last miles, my brothers. Don't look to me to save you. Run if you have the wit. Pray if you have the soul. Stand your ground if courage is yours. But don't follow me.

Follow me, and I will break your heart.

A truly great fantasy series and brilliant narrator to boot. My only negative thought is dwelling on the fact that it's over.

Brilliant

my favourite book series ever. I read the hard copy years ago when it came out and have just re-listened to all the audio books and it never gets old. I love this series!
(Even have a pet Border Collie named Jorg)

I just love this series! Mark Lawrence quickly became one of my favourite authors after reading Prince of Thorns. it only got better from there.

Just Awesome

Book was amazing, right up until the epilogue, where it got a bit weird and off kilter to the rest of the story

Ending was a bit weird

I've never read, heard nor watched any such story that has enthralled me like this series. I feel a sense of emptiness upon its ending. This is a story (& series) to be listened to again and again. Truly the bar to measure all other fantasy stories, if not stories in general.

My god.

Big fan of Mark Lawrence. Terrific story and excellent narration. Great trilogy from start to finish. Highly recommend “Prince of Fools” for those who love this world and are eager for more of the “Broken Empire”.
Also highly recommend “The Name of the Wind” by Patrick Rothfus.

Spectacular

This is a fantastically written antihero story. Makes you cheer for the bad guy :)

The only series I can re read!
