About this listen

The city of the gods. Elantris once stood as the symbol of all that is beautiful. A sprawling metropolis of unrivaled grandeur, it was a symbol of power and strength, built to be as imposing as it was magnificent.

The only thing more glorious than the city itself was its inhabitants, godlike beings, with silvery skin and hair of the purest, flowing white. Able to create powerful magics with a mere wave of their hands, the Elantrians were able to heal mortal wounds and create any object they desired. To be an Elantrian was to be without sickness, without pain, and without want.

And anyone could become a god. Through a process known as the "Shaod", a normal person could go to bed one night and awake the next morning to throw away the shackles of mortality and become a being of incomparable power and grace. With Elantris as their beacon, the light inside all humanity was allowed to shine, elevating it to new heights.

But Elantris fell...10 years ago.

The whole cast and sound effects really made this story come to live in my mind. I enjoyed the whole plot, likeable characters, and… I just LOVE THIS SO MUCH! Really good starting point for sanderson’s work

My first book from Sanderson! And I love it!

I really enjoyed this and definitely think it's one of the better free options through audibleplus right now to take advantage of. Interesting storyline with plenty of likeable characters and some whit. My two main issues are audio related. One is that the background sounds sometimes overpowered the voices or felt a bit off. The other one is the FMC who is in her mid twenties but the narrator sounds WAY older. The actress was good at acting but I didn't feel like her voice suited Selene or matched her age. It almost made her sound more annoying. All the other cast were well suited and overall I recommend the story!

Great Story

I stayed up much too late a few nights in a row to finish this. I really enjoyed the performances, and though I sometimes had to listen carefully to hear the narration over the background sounds, it mostly contributed very well to my enjoyment of the story. I liked this fairly uncomplicated story even more than I've liked other, complex Brandon Sanderson books.

I couldn't stop listening

I can tell the story is going to be good but I can't hear it over the background music that the producers seemed to have prioritised. Refunding this book forty mins in.

Turn the music down
