 Eduard Koss ist Gästeführer im Kernwasser-Wunderland Kalkar, einem großen Freizeit- und Hotelzentrum bei Kalkar am Niederrhein. Dass Edi, wie er sich nennt, dort arbeiten kann, ist alles andere als selbstverständlich. Denn eigentlich sollte hier seit über 20 Jahren Atomstrom erzeugt werden. Doch der umstrittene und in der Region heftig bekämpfte "Schnelle Brüter" ging trotz Fertigstellung nie ans Netz. Als 3,5 Milliarden Euro teure Ruine zierte er jahrelang das linke Rheinufer. Bis Anfang der 1990er-Jahre ein Niederländer auf dem Gelände einen Freizeitpark errichtete - eine zweite Chance für den Brüter sowie für die strukturschwache Region. Aber auch eine zweite Chance für Edi, der nach schwerer Krankheit hier um seinen Weg zurück in einen normalen Alltag kämpft.
