Publisher's Summary

Four complete books of explosive, military sci-fi action complete the entire first arc of the best-selling Drop Trooper series.

Go to war or go to jail. For small-time street hustler Cam Alvarez, the choice is simple....

He has no family, no friends, no place in the world...nothing to lose. When his latest con results in the death of a cartel hit man, Cam opts to join the Marines and leave Earth to fight a vicious alien enemy.

Drafted into the Marine Drop-Troopers, Cam discovers there’s one thing he’s even better at than running street-con games, and that’s killing the enemy. Wrapped in an armored battlesuit, Cam finds purpose amid the horror and destruction of the war, and the opportunity for a new sort of friends and family...if he can break the habits of a life spent alone, trusting no one.

And if he can survive....

Finally a sensible sci-fi military series

Far too many of the sci-fi mil series I've attempted in the last few years left me cold. It is not easy to build a solid and consistent setting, populated by realistic , raw and fallible characters, and weave a well-paced narrative.

Drop Troopers is a series that nails all of that.

Engrossing

I know there are a few who didn’t rate these books but I disagree with their comments. Firstly before I talk a bit on the books, the narration was truly excellent, I very much appreciated the way he read the characters he really brought the characters to life.
The books 1-4. I enjoy the introspection of the main lead. Understanding his life and what motivates him. Alongside this there are the battles etc and I feel this gives these books a whole perspective rather than just war. As a woman I can honestly say these books are so enjoyable and probably because I can understand and appreciate the actions of all characters. These books are a great follow on to Glory boy and the following 3 books. Highly recommend.

A story of personal development mostly

Unfortunately the sci fi was mostly secondary to the mc going through personal and professional development.
The background war was interesting but very few thrills amongst the cliche struggles of egotistical human in fighting.
Combat sequences were good.

Couldn't get past chapter 16

If you like every fight described blow by blow, then you might like this... I couldn't get past chapter 16. Maybe it get's better, I'll never know. Narrator is no RC Bray and story is quite bland, no surprises.
