Story
You meet the most interesting men in medieval prisons. This one time, I met a guy who offered me immortality for the low, low price of changing my diet. I didn’t read the fine print. Because, he wasn’t talking about a gluten-free diet. More like hemoglobin-full. And now, I’m a friggin’ vampire with five centuries of pop culture references.

Story
From the Demon Accords universe come six stories that delve behind the curtains. How does the FBI respond to a potential werewolf attack in an awakened world? What is it like to grow up witch? How do you assist a vampire queen? Who else lives on the world of Fairie? What does it take to prepare for alien invasion? As told by Declan, Stacia, Lydia, Chris, and introducing a few new characters to the fold. DA Compendium 3 builds upon and moves the arc of the DA storyline forward toward the battle for Earth.
Publisher's Summary
In the beginning, John was given the choice to avenge his family or die alongside them. He made his decision and has been seeking redemption ever since. Is it possible for a vampire, who has done unspeakable deeds, to change his inherent nature enough to go to Heaven once he takes the big sleep?
As if by divine intervention, our witty anti-hero stumbles across his potential salvation in the form of Father Thomes Philseep. Only problem is the holy man has been battling evil entities, like John, his entire life.
Can a preternatural being convince a warrior of the Light to help him cleanse his soiled soul - or does an eternity in the abyss of Hell await the abomination? Most importantly, did he leave the oven on?

THE ULTIMATE ODE TO A BROTHER FROM ANOTHER MOTHER!
All Hail King Hunter, & Daneils!
How I bow to thee, and on bended knee, with nose and palms flat to the floor, I want to read & listen, Johning On forevermore!!!
For the 'Man on a Mission' who writes the words for his brother from another. Straight and true from his heart just for you.
John, if only you knew & were here to read how a best friend has honoured you. But then perhaps you do?
And for the Man on a mission who bought you back with his dulcet tones, you no longer live on just in words.
You're now in our hearts, ears, mind & senses as his drawl soothingly drowns us in your soul!
John on is in Him, John On is in Her,
John On is in Me, & now John On is in Infamy!
This book and audio was my Deliverance from a day of pain, misery & sorrow. Turning my frown upside down & dialling back the pain.
Whisked away, transporting me from my 4 walls & sickbed & into John's head, enabled me to play each role.
'DELIVERANCE' is a short story prequel only 52 pages long, but well worth the read. It brings about the origins of two men who'd normally be on opposite sides in the eternal war between Good versus Evil.
In the Right Corner we have John Cook: A 500-year-old Vampire, but one with a big difference, a monster with a conscience and a heart of cold. It's almost like his soul was left intact.
And in the Left (Light) Corner meet Father Thomes Philseeps: The oh so cool, calm and collected 'Holy Man' with an arsenal of weapons including 'Holy Fire' & 'Friends in Very High Places'!
After an initial meeting er Uhm... perhaps I should say battle,
an offer is made. After a second more conductive & amicable meeting, that very odd proposal is sealed in a deal. Secretive plans of affirmative action are put into place to bring about the unlikeliest of partnerships, the creation of a Dynamic Duo the likes of which have never been seen before [of Holy Hell], whilst keeping the details on the down-low. Unconventional times call for unconventional measures, by unconventional men fighting an unconventional war with unconventional opponents.
Their joint union [results in]: 'A Mission for God!' 'The Good Fight for the Light'! An unexpected partnership between Holy & Hellish!
Get ready to experience every emotion known to Man, Monster, Woman, Priest & Beast upon this journey into the Supernatural. Laugh yourself stupid, cry a river of tears all, the while rooting for this monster to find the man within & redeem his soul.
Brought to from the incredibly talented writer who packs a punch, the witty punster with a heart, Hunter Blain & his offsider with the Award Winning Tones of perfection, Mr Luke Daniels timing is everything as this force for good & evil combine in what is set to be the Ultimate Battle to End the Ages!
I have to admit, I don't normally like short stories as I'm always left wanting more, both in content quantity & quality, but this is not one of those. This has to be one of my favourite prequels to a series start, right up there with Shayne Silvers' 'Fairy Tale' or J.R.R Tolkien's 'The Hobbit'.
I RATE DELIVERANCE 5 ⭐ OUT OF 5⭐
This is going to be one Hellova series and I for one, can not wait for the ride & the real fun to begin! JOHN ON!!!
I purchased both e-book & audio & this is my fair, honest & impartial review as always!

The set up...
As this is a prequel I'll keep it simple. This book not only sets up the internal struggle John has with good and evil, but also the external struggle, While it isn't necessary to listen to this before I Hope You Die it does set the stage.
For a more in depth review please see my review on the first book in the series. I will say that if you are looking for a great story with humorous antihero as the lead look no further,

Preternaturally outlandish crusty vampire Not Hero
First, can we please retire the word “preternatural”? The author needs to run a word search and see just how many times he uses it. Unless you want to start a drinking game by it, there’s no justification for the constant use of the word.
On to the real review:
Five minutes in and I thought of turning this off. It was so absurdly over the top. It sounded like those movie trailers where the dark gravelly voice sets the scene for the second coming and Carmina Burana plays in the background ... only for it to convert into a Naked Gun slapstick/parody.
And yet after thirty minutes I was grinning and loving the gritty, noir-meets-mouthy gansta vampire.
In the end, this prequel hour and a half morsel teased a horror-action-romp for the upcoming full length novel.
Narrator Luke Daniels embraced the insanity and I loved his performance so much more than the Iron Druid book series he narrates.
This was bonkers enough that I will get Book 1 and see if the magic continues.

Do yourself a favor and listen right now!
This was such an amazing listen! Luke Daniels really brings to life John's personality and makes you actually laugh out loud when you aren't expecting it. John is already hilarious by himself, but now with an actual voice, it was the most entertaining hour and a half I have spent in a long time. The book is amazing, the narrator is amazing, and I can't wait to listen to the next one!
And in case you haven't read the books, this one is about how John, a vampire, decides to start working for the side of good. Even when he is suffering, you laugh. You really need to go listen right now, you won't regret it!

Listened for Luke Daniels
Luke Daniels is such a great narrator. He's why I tried this.
The story was pretty good. Didn't blow me away but the anti hero vampire idea fearing hell was interesting. I'll probably try Book 1

This series is going to get good & I do mean gooood.
If there was ever a book to choose to be a dedicated reader to.. IMO, it’s this one. If your like me & you miss The Iron Druid Chronicles & Atticus O’Sullivan & Oberon, then grab this series right here. This has a sarcastic & magical hero, a equally as sarcastic sidekick in Da & a whole bunch more. I just finished the prequel so I look very much forward to the rest of the series.
