About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

He is known by some as Evan Smoak. To a few, he is known as Orphan X. But generally he is not known at all.

Taken from a children's home as a young boy, Evan Smoak was a trained to become a government operative known as Orphan X. But then he broke with the programme.

Now living out of sight and out of reach of his former employers, Evan chances upon a young woman in a coffee shop in Northern California who needs his help. Brutalised and under the control of a very powerful, dangerous man, she knows her life is at risk if she doesn't escape. And Evan knows that only a man with his particular set of skills has any chance of setting her free. His next move was never in doubt.

Buy a Bullet is the story of the day Orphan X became the Nowhere Man.

if you are a fan of pulp you might like it, but the "TV science" like throwing jumper leads in a pond to electrocute fish for the dogs is too ridiculous for me.

Pure pulp

I have mixed feelings about "Bezos" greed in charging the same for short stories as he does for a full novel. I shouldn't be surprised but, I also sincerely doubt he pays the author on the same basis.

lovely example of the short story genre

It's my own mistake, I didn't check the duration of the recording.

But if I had my time again I wouldn't buy the half issues. They are sperate from the main story line.

A 30min Book is Not Worth a Credit

I loved the first book, I was keen to buy the next book! After paying for the book, settling in to it… only to realise that it’s only 30 minutes

Being the stubborn fool that I am, I am not supporting this author any more.

DO NOT BUY THIS! It’s a rip off tactic.

36 minutes for the price of a full novel, this is not worth a full monthly credit paid to audible and shouldn’t be allowed as a full credit

Don’t pay a credit for 36 minutes

What a waste of a credit to buy such a short story. Why would anyone have a book that short and why does it make it to the list of Gregg Hurwitz novels. It felt unfinished due to being that short a story. I wish I had realised that before wasting my credit. I have listened to quite a few Orphan X books and thought this would be the same 😔

Did not realise it wasn’t even one hour long

Don’t bother with this!! Spent $12 just for a book that’s only 1 chapter long. So ripped off! There should have been a clear mention of this so that buyers could make an informed choice, which I 100% would NOT have ever bothered with. How greedy can you be?

As far as I’m concerned I was mislead and I ought to have my money returned.

Not a fair exchange! Not at all.

What a rip off!!!!
