With the whole galaxy turned against them, John will have to scramble for allies and make Faustian deals to save Earth. But against the might of multiple empires, will it be enough? A book mered in politics

This was a very slow and mostly unrelevant experience.

The story progressed poorly. John is the worst anti hero with a moral crisis I have ever heard of. As brave as he is the psychological challenges he puts in his own way are used as a crutch. John is still the selfless person he has always been but if that is who he wants to be than do that... I can't stand the fact that he is soo apologetic to other's that he has allowed his meekness and subsequent subservient behavior to allow the entire galaxy including Earth to view him as a Screw-up. If not for his efforts they would all be slaves to new masters. The disrespect is real and it's disgusting.

And the worst thing is that the events in thus book could have taken place within half this book. I can honestly say I don't think you need to by this book to keep up with the series. Save the credit and buy this one when you hit a dry spell....

love this universe

I mean does anyone care about the reviews for the 10th book besides the author?

if so i got to say I loved the book. the world building is heavy as always and maybe goes a little on the rambling side but if I like the world then I love the rambling since its just more of what I like.

but besides that this book has the same high pressure feeling of John being back against a wall and fighting his way out.

complaints could be maybe some time developing side characters?

Anyway now i just want to reread the series now so ill go do that.

Even better

Great story and narration here. Nick Podehl brings Tao Wong's epic story to life with passion and distinctive character voices. Many adventures, surprises, secrets, and great fights thrashing the guy who's trying to survive and solve the series mystery - What is the System? I enjoyed it as much or more than reading the book.

A Rambling Departure from Wong's Usual Quality

This book feels like it should have been edited down to about half the size and serve as the first act of another book or maybe just a lot more time editing. Maybe Wong thinks whatever audience he has still reading this series so far in are hooked and I know he's not wrong in my case. I need to know what happens and will buy the next two novels to finish this series, but I hope they're made with more love than this rambling mess.

Tao does it again!

Or maybe I should say The Redeemer does it again. The dude can't get through the week without making at least a few planets absolutely hate his guts. But by the end of this book... (KINDA SPOILERS) the entire universe hates his guys like damn lol. I kinda miss the days when it was just going on fun adventures down on Earth with the group of friends.
Even once this series ends, I hope Tao keeps writing in the universe

Great installment in the series

More politics than some of the other books. Some good battles. We learn more but there's still lots of unanswered questions. Great characters. Much less stat heavy than most GameLit books.

Great narration as expected from Nick Podehl.
