يقدم واسيني الأعرج لروايته "سيرة المنته" بثلاث عتبات، أولها هو "حديث الإسراء" وثانيها لابن عربي من كتابه "الإسراء إلى المقام الأسرى أو كتاب المعراج" وثالثها من "تقرير إلى غريكو" للروائي اليوناني كازنتزاكيس. أما المقبوسان الأول والثاني فيشرعان الباب للمخيال الديني، وهو الحركة الكبرى الأولى في الرواية (الصوفية)، بينما يشرع المقبوس الثالث الباب للحركة الأولى – أيضاً – في الرواية: ما سيقص واسيني على جده من حياته، كما فعل كازنتزاكيس.
