Beyond Strange Lands is an action-packed and fantastical multi-cast audio drama that journeys across the Australian outback.

In 1982, the famous paranormal expert Grant Peters went missing while filming his TV show Legendary Australia. His wife Melissa was never able to find him. When Melissa herself disappears nearly forty years later, her daughter Fiona and grandson Ethan trace her to the small outback town of Boulia. There they discover a collection of old audio tapes that Melissa left behind: a set of clues they must follow if they're to solve this mystery in time. Insidious forces will stop at nothing to destroy them, and an impossibly ancient menace lurks deep beneath the ground, waiting for the chance to strike....

I've changed my opinion now about immersive sound

I had no idea of immersive sound ie without headphones it sounds whoosh because your ears are hearing it in dif directions. However the make voice maybe mono only so you can hear him in all directions but the females may be in stereo or wide stereo with on left or right speaker only. If you play this without headphones and voices are garbled do strange things to how you hold your mobile ie above or below you upside down or about facing the other way and diagonal left upper or right lower etc until the female voice becomes audible at that direction from the uni microphones they speak from in one direction only. Otherwise only play this with headphones not just recommend it you actually have to so you don't have to keep moving it around like a moon to a planet to hear it in correct directions.

twasnt all bad

it seemed like all they did in the action scenes was scream each others names over and over.
had potential to be awesome and wasnt too bad i guess. but very confusing hard to hear the purple thing properly when it spoke. audio high-so bloody loud on the noises and smashes but super quiet on the talking

Loved this. it was so relatable with the references to real places, and stretched the imagination with the plot. Great work!

Strange but interesting

For me knowing about the min min lights, could follow the story.
I think that if you are not Australian it not be an interesting story.

thoroughly enjoyable

enjoyable. only a few small plot holes. well performed. production quality is ok although it sounds like different people were in different rooms when it was recorded and some of the voices are a bit too quiet. suspect this is more of a kids/young person show. it bears some of the hallmarks of classic scifi aussie kids tv series from the 90s.

Good performances but it was otherwise kind of unremarkable. I didn't find the story particularly interesting.
