About this listen

A Zograt and Skrog Novel

Zograt was once a puny runt of a grot, but thanks to his brilliant cunning, the blessing of the Bad Moon, and a loyal troggoth, he's now ready to prove himself the greatest Loonboss ever.

Listen to it because

Follow a rags-to-riches story of a weak and weaselly git who now aspires to be seen as the best Loonboss in all the Mortal Realms! Of course, not everyone's going to let him have things his own way...

The story

Born the weakest runt of his Moonclan tribe, Zograt was only ever one beating away from a nasty end...until the Bad Moon bestowed upon him its blessing. Now the Clammy Hand of destiny is upon him and back-stabbing grots scurry to his cause, afraid of the vengeances their new boss will inflict with his powerful spells.

For every underling he suffocates with noxious fungi, Zograt stages a magnanimous gesture, for he is all too aware of his fragile grip on power. Yet in his heart boils an obsession – to become the most formidable, most respected, most fearsome Loonboss there ever was.

Where better to proclaim his new-found majesty than the gloom-shrouded mountain of Muttering Peak? To lay claim to his throne, Zograt must first evade a sinister coven of wizards that wishes to harness the mountain's power for their own dark designs – but with his razor-sharp mind, unpredictable magic, and the loyal troggoth Skrog at his side, Zograt's ambitions may not be so daft, after all...

very enjoyable book as it gave the goblins interesting motivations, flaws and depth of character. Not just one dimensional bad guys to fight the human characters.

it was great to see some of the more mundane elements of goblin life not just grandiose battle. Fun tone and a sense of adventure were prevalent throughout which really added to the world building.

great humour and funny moments and some really endearing lines. it was refreshing how a lot of the plot developed from actions rather than character dialogues.

excited for the next book

goblins with depth of character

This book is fantastic. It’s the only book that I have found that captures the fun of playing as a Goblin in the various game iterations.

12/10 for the narrator as I think this is the best Goblin/Orc voice work I have heard in any fantasy and this is how I will choose to hear them from now on. All hail the Bad Moon!

Maybe the real Loonking is the friends we made along the way

This book was brilliant!

The narrator was awesome! He clearly enjoyed reading the novel and it showed in his performance. Each voice was different and helped create the characters even further.

The Story meanwhile was incredible!
The characters were sympathetic, and had compelling plots.
I couldn’t help but root for the little Grot throughout the whole story, I was trapped to the end of my seat and couldn’t help but listen all the way to the end. (It’s currently midnight. 😅)
I love hearing Andy Clark write about Goblins. He turns tiny goblins into frothing nightmares to be feared. I hope he writes more!!!

A proper Loonking!

It's a great slice of the protagonist still being despicable, yet you can root for him. It's very clever for that. Harry Myers is excellent as usual and I look forward to hearing more warhammer from him.

Enjoyable. The writer and the reader both "get it'
