Publisher's Summary

The best-selling and ABIA Award shortlisted memoir from Osher Gunsberg, one of Australia's most loved celebrities, about life, love and living with mental illness - powerful, dark, funny, and heart-wrenching.

It's hard to remember a time when Osher Gunsberg (or Andrew G as he was then) wasn't on TV - he's just always been there, looking at ease in the spotlight, beaming a big smile, with a questionable haircut. He was there hanging out with The Offspring backstage at the Warped Tour on Channel V; announcing to a national audience of three million people that Guy Sebastian was our first Australian Idol; and later capturing the heart of the nation by hosting every season of The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, and now Bachelor in Paradise.

But while everything looks great from the outside, the real picture has not always been quite so rosy. Osher has always known he's different to most other people. Struggling with anxiety, panic attacks, and weight issues since he was young, he tried for years to drink away the anxiety and depression. He ended up unemployed, divorced, suicidal, and certifiable on the other side of the world, yet somehow he managed to put the broken pieces of his mind back together and make a life for himself again. He lives with a mental illness - and he's come to terms with it to live an authentic, rich, and fulfilling life.

An honest, revealing, raw, funny, and heartfelt memoir from one of Australia's most well-known and well-liked celebrities - now with two new, additional chapters.

Interesting without being amazing

Interesting in-site and very honest reflection on mental health.
I always enjoy a book a little more when it’s actually read by the author as is the case with this one.

Footnote, blah blah blah. Back to the book

This would be a much better book with less footnote rambles.

Osher has a great story to tell and empowering journey to bettering yourself.

I had hoped for more

I didn't love this book, the amount of unnecessary footnotes were annoying. I am unsure what I think of Osher now as I found arrogance coming through the pages. it was brave to bare his soul though.

Couldn't stop listening

I loved it! wasnt a fan of so many 'foot notes' though, but I guess they had to be in there.

I listened to every word with bated breath

Wow. I found myself hooked to this book. Every spare minute I could find in the day was spent listening to Osher narrate this incredibly honest, raw and heart warming story of his life.
Andrew G was a big part of my early twenties music experience on channel V. One day, I picked up a magazine in a waiting room and came across an interview he had given about changing his name and his mental health challenges. I thought I’d check out his book and I am so glad I did. They say your vibe attracts your tribe and I want more of whatever Osher has got going on. I’ll definitely get into his podcast. What a great story of transformation and rebirth. Highly recommended

So humbling & inspiring

My gosh what an incredible book. I honestly could not put it down. I read it in 2 weeks which is record speed for me. I worked with Osher back in 2006 on Australian idol circa Jess Malbouy & Damien Leath. When he was then named Andrew G. I’ve always had a crush on him watching ch V & working w him was awesome, his ability to light up the room energetically was so mesmerizing to be a part of. I had no idea the amount of pain & suffering this beautiful soul was going through & has been through. Thank you for sharing the light on being a ratbag, mental illness & addiction. I laughed & cried many times throughout this book & im so inspired & grateful that you shared your story.
Highly recommend reading this book. What a beautiful outcome & wife/daughter & family you have now. X

Unexpected, and wonderful.

I really only knew Osher from Idol and The Bachelor, and always presumed he was a vacuous TV celeb. Not so - he has a depth of character and an intelligence that I missed completely in my superficial presumption. The story of his life is interesting to start with, but the battles with mental health are a brave, and brilliant, revelation. The story is full of humility, honesty, love, and ultimately triumph. I have gained a deep respect for the man himself, and also an excellent resource for people I know who want to know more about how mental health. I work in a related field, and I can see myself recommending this to clients who don't necessarily perceive themselves as suffering from mental illness.
A brilliant book.
