Publisher's Summary

The best-selling and ABIA Award shortlisted memoir from Osher Gunsberg, one of Australia's most loved celebrities, about life, love and living with mental illness—powerful, dark, funny, and heart-wrenching.

It's hard to remember a time when Osher Gunsberg (or Andrew G as he was then) wasn't on TV—he's just always been there, looking at ease in the spotlight, beaming a big smile, with a questionable haircut. He was there hanging out with The Offspring backstage at the Warped Tour on Channel V; announcing to a national audience of three million people that Guy Sebastian was our first Australian Idol; and later capturing the heart of the nation by hosting every season of The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, and now Bachelor in Paradise.

But while everything looks great from the outside, the real picture has not always been quite so rosy. Osher has always known he's different to most other people. Struggling with anxiety, panic attacks, and weight issues since he was young, he tried for years to drink away the anxiety and depression. He ended up unemployed, divorced, suicidal, and certifiable on the other side of the world, yet somehow he managed to put the broken pieces of his mind back together and make a life for himself again. He lives with a mental illness—and he's come to terms with it to live an authentic, rich, and fulfilling life.

An honest, revealing, raw, funny, and heartfelt memoir from one of Australia's most well-known and well-liked celebrities—now with two new, additional chapters.

Very open and honest discussion

Great to see a high profile person sharing their mental health experiences. Hopefully this will help a lot of people out there.

Love the format this has been written in. It is like listening to Osher talk about his experiences.

Unbelievably powerful, a must listen!

You’ll be absolutely hooked like I was! The best audiobook I’ve ever listened to, and I do stress that this needs to be listened to rather than read, Osher is a glorious storyteller and you won’t want to turn it off even for a minute

Fantastic

What a beautifully well written book, insightful sad, serious and out right honest.
I throughly enjoyed listening to this book..... it was raw and the best way for me was to actually take some time out and listen to Osher himself relay the events of his troubled life.
I did at times want to scream out loud at him to snap the f*^% out of it, but began trying to put myself in this exact mental head space in order to better understand the mind of someone who is seriously unwell.
I’ve taken a new approach and respect in understanding mental illness, it’s a whole new level of understanding that you can infact change your mindset your ways your views of you have the right support.
As a sufferer of post natal depression and anxiety I’m in absolute awe of this man and will continue telling anyone who will listen how amazing this book was to read. 🙌🏻

Excellent Book

Excellent book speaking about mental illnesses and the balance of mental illness and personal relationships.
Beautiful story.
Takes a while to get moving, but the lead up stories give perspective for the rest of the book. Easy read.

So Raw and Honest

I didn’t want it to finish - I never realised I could relate so much to Andy G.. Thanks Usher

Great experience and reflections on life growing up in Australia in the late 90’s early 2000’s

All the feels

I didn't know what to expect. Never listened to ome of his podcasts but I will, I need more. I've learned so much about life, mental health and Osher. I think I got more out of this in an audio format than I would have reading. I can feel a shift within me, about how I view myself, goals, persistence, life and what it all means.

Enjoyable Biography

I was prepared not to like this book as I am not particularly a fan of Osher or TV in general but I did find it rather enjoyable. I related to his anxiety and addiction issues so I felt quite connected. it was well read and I didn't mind the footnotes as I just took them as part of the story.

Inspirational

This was my first audio book but it was so amazing. I finished it in a couple of days while doing housework, walking, feeding my 7 month old baby and putting him to sleep. I got so much from Osher’s story. He was so honest and so generous with sharing his story. It has made me love Osher even more and made me feel like a stronger person. I feel like, with his tips on managing his mental illness, that I too can try to get out of my depression and see a way out of the darkness. Thank you Osher for sharing your beautiful inspirational story.

Never judge a book by it's cover

Having watched Andrew turn into Osher over the years it was a view of a fun confident man who was ready for anything. I had no idea of the struggle going on underneath. It was very brave of him to be as open as he was, and It will help others realise they are not alone.
