Lawrence Township Update: October 16, 2025

Welcome to the Lawrence Township weekly news roundup, covering major awards, critical deadlines, and a multitude of upcoming fall events!

01. Township Achievements & Recognition

Award Winning Lawrence Township (Maidenhead Meadows): Lawrence Township was awarded 1st Place by the New Jersey Society of Municipal Engineers.

• The award was given in Category B – Municipal Project/Construction Management of Parks and Recreation Project – In House Engineer, specifically for the Maidenhead Meadows project.

• This recognition celebrates the outstanding efforts of the Municipal Engineer and the team responsible for creating the recreational space.

02. Civic Duties & Deadlines (Tax Collector, Elections)

Sewer Bill Deadline: All sewer bills were mailed by September 16th. Payments are due in the Tax Collector’s office by October 27th to avoid penalty.

Election Board Workers Needed: The Township is seeking Election Board Workers, including bilingual workers, for the upcoming General Election on November 4, 2025.

Upcoming Meetings (Note: Check for changes):

◦ Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee: Thursday, October 16 (6:30 PM).

◦ Planning Board Meeting: Monday, October 20 (7:00 PM) – CANCELED.

◦ Township Council Meeting: Tuesday, October 21 (6:30 PM).

03. Public Works & Safety Announcements

Leaf Collection Begins: The Public Works Department starts leaf collection on November 3 and will continue through December 31.

• The Township assigns one collection crew to each brush zone for approximately eight weeks of collection, allowing residents to expect three collections during this period.

Police Department: Details and registration are available for Operation Blue Angel.

04. Recreation & Halloween Events

Trunk or Treat: Hosted by the LTPD, Recreation Department, and LTPS on Thursday, October 23rd.

Time/Location: 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the Lawrence High School Parking Lot.

◦ Attendees are invited to dress in costume, and those setting up a trunk should bring plenty of treats.

Halloween House Decorating Contest: Voting is ongoing via the 'Monster Map'.

Judging/Voting: Until October 30th.

Winners Announced: Halloween Day, October 31st.

LHT Trail & Treat: Hosted by the Lawrence Hopewell Trail.

Date/Time/Location: Sunday, October 26th, 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM at Lawrence Village Park.

Ages: 2 to 12 years old.

Fall & Winter Programs: The Recreation Department offers a variety of fun and engaging activities for youth and adults.

05. Health Department & Licensing

Cat License Period (2025-2026): All cats 7+ months old in Lawrence Township are required by law to be licensed.

Period Valid: September 1, 2025, through August 31, 2026.

Late Fees: Start November 1st.

Fees: $11 (spayed/neutered) or $14 (not spayed/neutered).

Free COVID Test Kits: At-home COVID-19 test kits, provided by Mercer County, are available at the Lawrence Health Department while supplies last.

06. Ongoing Programs & Volunteer Opportunities

Junior Wrestling: Sign up now for this program, which teaches technique, rules, and skills twice a week.

Start Date: Beginning November 10th.

Location/Time: Lawrence Middle School, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM (Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays).

Senior Center Activities: View the October Calendar and sign up for programs by calling the Lawrence Senior Center (609-844-7048).

Volunteer Opportunities: Opportunities are available through organizations like the Lawrence Historical Society, Meals on Wheels, and the Lawrence Township Community Foundation.
