About this listen

Slow Me Down - A Psalmists Vigilant Heart Prayer Heavenly Father, Creator of time and Keeper of every moment, I come before You in humble surrender. You, who speaks in whispers and moves in blinks of an eye, slow me down so that I may hear You. Guard my heart with vigilance so that I may recognize the moments where I am being tested. Let me not be blind to my own shortcomings, nor deaf to Your quiet call to patience, wisdom, and grace (Psalm 46:10; 1 Peter 5:8). Lord, I confess that I have stumbled. There have been moments where I could have done better—times when I spoke in haste instead of in kindness, where I chose convenience over obedience, where my heart raced ahead of Your instruction (James 1:19-20). Yet even in my failings, Your mercy covers me. Your grace speaks a better word than my faults, and in the space of a breath, You offer another chance, another door to walk through, another path to righteousness (Lamentations 3:22-23). You are the God of miracles and the God of pieces. Even when my actions are impulsive, even when I make choices without full understanding, You take those fragmented pieces and reveal their purpose over time. You show me the patterns I have practiced, the lessons You have laid before me. Every misstep becomes a signal, a holy reminder to put into action what You have taught me—to walk in the wisdom You have already provided (Ephesians 2:10). Teach me to discern between right and wrong, not just in the grand decisions but in the daily, quiet moments. Let every thought, word, and deed align with Your righteousness, that my life may be pleasing unto You. Renew my mind, train my spirit, shape my heart so that I am not swayed by impulse but led by truth (Hebrews 5:14; Romans 12:2; 1 Thessalonians 4:4). I surrender the old colonel—the patterns, the defenses, the authority I once held over my own life. I lay down my pride, my self-reliance, my own understanding, and take up the mantle of the new creature You have made me to be. Under Your authority, I am transformed; in Your power, I grasp hold of true freedom (2 Corinthians 5:17; Galatians 2:20). Fill me with joy, not the fleeting happiness of the world but the deep and abiding joy that comes from walking in obedience. Let my life be a testimony to Your patience and power. Thank You, Father—immensely, endlessly—for slowing me down, for teaching me, for renewing me. In the quiet moments and the chaotic ones, You are near. And for that, I am grateful beyond words. In Jesus' name, Amen. Kijuan “The Psalmist” Williams
