About this listen

On today's episode of Setting The Pace, Alex Golden goes solo on today's episode to share some of the comments that Rick Carlisle made at Day 1 of Pacers Training Camp. Carlisle discusses what he is wanting to see from his team at camp, what he likes about James Wiseman, what it will mean losing coach Mike Weinar and what assistant Johnny Carpenter adds to the staff, health concerns for Ben Sheppard, Kam Jones and RayJ Dennis and reflecting on Nancy Leonard, who's funeral they will be attending on Saturday in Carmel, Indiana, causing the team to rearrange their practice schedule.

Lastly, Alex discusses Game 5 of the WNBA Semifinals, where the Indiana Fever lose 107-98 to the Las Vegas Aces, in a game where the Fever were scratching and clawing their way out of a deficit to try and pull off a miracle. With Clark, Cunningham, Dantas and other players out with injuries, the Fever couldn't afford to lose anymore key rotation pieces. During the 3rd quarter, Kelsey Mitchell, an MVP Finalist, went down with a lower body injury and was helped off the court. She did not return to the game. The Fever were also without Aliyah Boston for long stretches in this game, as she was battling foul trouble, which was questionable to say the least. It was a season that ended in heartbreaking fashion, but the future is bright. Alex discusses all about Fever future, what this team could look like and explains why they're just scratching the surface to becoming a championship level contender for the next decade.
