In this episode of Audacious Black Girl, I sit down with Dejanae Parkman, founder of Dotted, a wellness-first period care brand created for women with heavy cycles. Dejanae shares her powerful journey navigating endometriosis, PCOS, and fibroids, and how her lived experience pushed her to question the safety of mainstream period products. What she discovered about toxins, endocrine disruptors, and misleading “organic” marketing led her to create Dotted—an innovative, Black woman-owned brand centering wellness, safety, and dignity in menstrual care. She truly exemplifies what it means to be an Audacious Black Girl!

Together, we unpack the silence around period health in Black girlhood, the ancestral and cultural messages we’ve carried about pain and privacy, and the ways these narratives have shaped how we care for our bodies. We also talk about shifting toward holistic, safer options that allow us to listen to and honor our bodies instead of ignoring or numbing our pain.
