These past few days Kim Jong-un has been back in global headlines and a hot topic behind closed doors and at world summits. He attended a massive military parade in Beijing standing side by side with Chinas Xi Jinping and Russias Vladimir Putin reportedly his first truly public outing at a multilateral summit since taking power. Diplomatic analysts in The Guardian and Korea Times say this is a deliberate signal that North Korea is moving deeper into a strategic counterweight alliance with Beijing and Moscow not just playing the spoiler but Main Stage actor in East Asian geopolitics.
To add more intrigue Kim was recently seen with his daughter in Beijing. Both The Guardian and The Korea Times have noted that this international debut is fueling speculation that she might be his chosen successor adding a potential genetic plot twist to his biography.
Militarily its steady as she goes but at a higher pitch. Anadolu Agency reports that Kim has met in person with North Korean nuclear scientists to review progress on Pyongyangs 2025 nuclear material production plan. He stressed upgrading the countrys nuclear shield and sword is the top priority for the present and future security of the republic.
