    Understanding Revelation and Holy Scriptures

In today's episode, we explore the Islamic concept of revelation - the process by which Allah communicates divine guidance to humanity. The Quran teaches us revelation serves two functions: it is the means through which knowledge is imparted from Allah, and the recorded scriptures containing this knowledge. We learn revelation serves as a guiding light and the source of divine law in the lives of believers.

Verse 5:44 indicates prophets are charged with implementing Allah's will by adhering to the revelation sent to them, such as the Torah revealed to Moses.

Episode on the Islamic Concept of Prophethood.

In this installment of our series exploring Islam's rich scholarly traditions, we examine the vital topic of prophethood. Through references to primary religious sources, we gain insight into this foundational Islamic concept. We learn that Allah sent approximately 124,000 prophets to guide humanity over time, with 300 specified as messengers (ulul ‘azm). Messengers differed in that they delivered divinely-revealed scriptures establishing laws and systems of worship for their respective followers. As the Quran instructs, each prophet was sent exclusively to his people, with the exception of our final Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, who was sent as a mercy and the final messenger. Furthermore, all prophets conveyed the same fundamental message: to affirm God's oneness and obey His commands. Their mission contained glad tidings for those accepting faith, as well as warnings for rejecters and sinners. Through elucidating prophethood's spiritual and social dimensions, this lecture aims to nurture a deeper connection with Islam's pristine sources of wisdom and pattern of messengership. May it enrich our understanding of theological underpinnings and history's enduring lessons.
