Edwin Diaz pulled a rabbit out of a hat and survived an (almost) 9th inning meltdown, as the New York Mets won the opener against the Cincinnati Reds 5-4.

The early part of this game was dominated by the Mets offense, jumping out to an early lead behind a 3 run 1st inning.

David Peterson got the start and while better than his last time out, had a tough 4th inning that allowed the Reds back into the game.

The Mets bullpen got all the outs they needed to, and Diaz worked in and out of trouble to secure the win for New York.
