On the afternoon of January 13, 1996, 9-year-old Amber Hagerman was riding her bike in the parking lot of an abandoned grocery store in Arlington, Texas, when a man in a black pickup truck pulled up beside her, grabbed her off her bike, and drove away.

Four days later, Amber’s body was found in a creek just a few miles away. She had been murdered.

Twenty-nine years later, Amber’s case remains unsolved. But her name has never faded. And her legacy continues to save lives.

Amber Hagerman was abducted at around 3:18 p.m. on January 13, 1996, while riding her bike in the parking lot of an abandoned Winn-Dixie store in Arlington, Texas.

A witness saw a man force her into a black pickup truck and drive away. Four days later, Amber’s body was found in a creek about five miles away. Her killer has never been identified.
