About this listen
On October 30, 2021, Melissa and David Gholson engaged in a verbal argument at their residence. The dispute, centered on David’s desire to seek help for Melissa, possibly related to personal issues, escalated over several hours. According to the State Attorney’s Office,
Melissa retrieved a .380 semi-automatic handgun from a gun safe during the argument, initially placing it in her pocket before storing it in a drawer. As the argument resumed, Melissa retrieved the gun, pointed it at David, and pulled the trigger. The gun clicked, as no bullet was chambered. David fled to the garage, but Melissa pursued him, loaded the weapon, and shot him multiple times in the stomach. David died from his injuries in the garage.
