keto heavy but good info

this book is worth the read. the author has dumbed the science down to aid the lay persons understanding but really covers autophagy topic in detail. as an unexpected bonus some fantastic info on the food industry and its sneaky ways and extreme lengths it takes to trick us. bit keto diet heavy for me . narrator puts in a good performance too.

Sadly a waste of time & money for such a compelling topic

Chatty narrative lacking scientific and medical substantiation relying instead on generalities and platitudes. Surface level anecdotal and second hand references including the cheap shot allusion to the ‘Nobel Prize Winning’ research - which is not included with any detail. The entire work lacks apparent professional editing as evidenced by frequent grammatical errors and repetitive and contradictory statements. Sadly the narration is incredibly annoying (narrator pronounces ‘during’ as ‘daring’; other vocal nuances are simply grating.) I have almost 300 titles in my Audible library. I rarely write reviews, and even more rarely negative ones, but want to alert other Audible readers who have generously shared their valuable insights over the years. It’s as if the author wrote this book after reading a handful of nutrition, keto and fasting books, and included a bit of high level thinking from each. I will, as another reviewer suggested, seek a refund from Audible.

Inaccurate, boring, lazy.

Did you know that all atoms have a proton and a neuron in the center? No, seriously. Yep. One proton per atom. Then one neuron. It's bad enough that this author doesn't know the difference between a neutron and a neuron, but to try and teach people a scientific concept when not even being aware most atoms are not accurately identified ad having "one neuron (you mean neutron?) and one proton in the center. I guess this guy is made of pure hydrogen. Don't EVER take dietary and medical advice from someone who can't even pass a simple high-school chemistry class. Maybe that was middle school, I don't know. Anyway, if you've stumbled upon this publication abomination, you're clearly looking for information on autophagy. Head over to any of Dr. Fung's books - he understands atoms need more than one neutron and proton in general. OMG - I'm still in shock this book was published. Thanks to Audible returns are free and easy.

Disappointing, inaccurate, and all over the place

Really irritated by this book because the publisher's summary right up front mentions science and basing the information on Nobel Prize winners etc. So the assumption is that this book will contain scientific information and explanation of autophagy. Instead the author immediately starts with a chatty tone and implies that nobody really understands science so he won't go into scientific details you won't understand and will keep this folksy for stupid old readers. Then he wanders around all over the place giving mostly anecdotes, and providing information and analogies that are in many cases false. He implies that the body's methods for withdrawing fat from fat cells for energy is the same mechanism as autophagy, which it just isn't. He also says, 'All cancers are the same and none is worse than the other'... ummm, wrong, just wrong. He launches into a long rant about food labelling that has nothing to do with autophagy and also contains inaccurate info. He then wanders thru a lot of different topics with no real focus on any of them and jumping around. It's like he's read a bunch of other people's books and just babbling on about his opinions on the information in other books about fasting and low carb diet (and more inaccurate info there too). Don't waste $10 on this book... 3 hours of just some guy yammering about what he thinks autophagy is, not what it actually is. Very little info about autophagy and more a rant on various things and dieting.

Boring

There are plenty of other books on autophagy that aren’t painfully boring to listen to.

Weak writing made worse by a terrible narrator

Couldn’t get past the first chapter. Move on to a different book. Narrator sounds like a robot reading. The writing is clunky.

Well done!

I liked that the author presents principles, rules/guidelines and real life examples that allow me to make my own informed plan. I also read authors book on obesity and, between these two books, feel my life is about to change for the better. Recommend it! Well done!
