" تلـــــوى فم أوس بإبتســـامة صغيرة، وأغمض عينيه لتسكن روحه في أحضانها بعد أن تذوق أخيراً طعم السكون ، فهزته تقــى برعب وهي تصرخ فيه :

-أوس، رد عليا..ماتموتش وتسيبني !

ضربت على صدره بكفها،ثم رفعت رأسها للأعلى وأغمضت عينيها لتصرخ بتنهيدة حـــــــــــارقة جثت على صدرها، وأطبقت على روحها، وقضت على أخـــر ما تبقى من حياتها المعذبة تاركة إياها تعاني مرارة الفقد والحرمــــان ،أمسكت به من ياقته وهزته بعنف أشـــد ، وكزت على أسنانها لتهدر بصراخ حـــارق :

-ليه بتعمل فيا كده ؟ ليه ؟!

لم يجبها بل ظل جســـده ساكنًا،رفعت عينيها للأعلى لتنظر حولها بخوف بائن.

كانت بمفردها في تلك الصحراء القاحلة .. لا أثــر للحياة ولا أثر لأي مخلوق ...

ابتلعت ريقها بفزع حقيقي .. ثم بحــذر شديد أبعدت أوس عن أحضانها ، وأسندت جسده على الرمـــال وأمالته على الجانب ، ثم جاهدت لتنهض عن الرمــال بعد أن أصبحت ساقيها ثقيلتين وعاجزتين عن الحركة ..

نظرت إلى كفيها فوجدت الدمــاء تلطخهما ، فقفز قلبها رعباً من بين ضلوعه .. وزاد شحوب وجهها

وتلاحقت أنفاسها !!!"
