It is early 1942, and Australia is in the midst of war. While working at a Japanese hospital in the port of Broome, Dr. Ibaraki is arrested and sent to Loveday internment camp in a remote corner of South Australia. As tensions at the isolated camp escalate, the doctor's beliefs are thrown into question, and he is forced to confront his past: the promise he made in Japan and its devastating consequences.

I have read this book three time, each time I pick up on things that I didn’t notice previously. I love learning about Japanese culture throughout this book. Highly recommend!!

I really enjoyed this story, told in the voice of a Japanese doctor who was imprisoned in Australia in the war. The narrator was perfect for the character and easy to listen to.

A very confronting book of how Governments go "feral " and delusion in their desire to seek ultimate glory at whatever expense to humanity. The hero of this book, is a true hero! If this book is fiction, it is to close to the truth!

I was totally absorbed in this book & found it hard to turn off. It relates some of the happenings of the "other side" during the second world war. The narration was excellent.
