About this listen

Wealthy and roguish, Demon Cynster is perfectly content without love. Having witnessed his Cynster brethren driven to their knees by women, he knows all too well what the power of love can do to a man. But he never banked on meeting Felicity Parteger, a luscious, curvy beauty in desperate need of help. Could this tempting woman be the one? Felicity knows he will never pledge her his love - can passion and lust alone suffice? Driving Laurens' tale toward its climax, Simon Prebble's powerful narration takes listeners to a new pinnacle of pleasure.©1999 Savdek Management Proprietory, Ltd. Another good Cynster story, as usual the back story was intriguing but these erotic blow by blow loves scene could be left out. Otherwise a great read

Great back story

Flick is a superlative horse rider who disguises herself as a stable hand to track down a race fixing syndicate. Her disguise doesn’t fool Demon Cynster at all but he too is hunting for the syndicate and reluctantly accepts her help to discover who is making a fortune from the corruption. Their collaboration leads a developing relationship despite Demon’ aversion to marriage but can it bring each of them happiness? Well characterised by Simon Prebble’s animated reading, the story holds the listener to the dramatic end.

She was game for anything but I chuckled when she caught Bletchley with his pants down.

Dilan was in hiding from a syndicate that had conned him into participating in race fixing. His father was the man in charge of keeping records for all the wins. Felicity was on a Horse, riding one of Demons best horses, testing him out for future races. She loved horses, riding, everything about them. Having been raised by the General since she was seven, Felicity owed him alot. That's why when Dilan came to her and told how he was in trouble and why, she was determined to help. Demon having arrived at his stables early saw someone on one of his horses and his interest was arrested. Then begins the adventure. Love this family of Cynsters!

While not one of the best books of this series, the recorded version by Simon Preeble, is up to his usual high standard. A little repetitious in places, particularly in the lovemaking scenes.
Devil's Bride(Bk1), Scandal's Bride (Bk3), The Perfect Lover (Bk10) and many of the latter stories are all worth reading & are some of my favourites.
These books give an insight into the narrow and often restrictive lifestyles of the period, particularly for women, but do showcase the more positive philosophies exhibited by many of the lead male charachters at the end of their story.
The books highlight a very particular period of English history that seems almost unbelievable, when compared to the so much more unfettered times of today.
