About this listen

Stephanie Laurens entices listeners anew with each of her delectable Regency-era novels, and this New York Times best seller showcases Laurens at her captivating best.

Charles Morwellan, eighth Earl of Meredith, knows he must marry, but he plans to do so on his own terms. So, after years of escaping the clutches of would-be wives, it is quite a shock when he is refused by the beautiful Sarah Conningham.

Loved this continuance if the Cynster tales, a great intrigue, well written and well narrated. Finally ditched the over the top love scenes. Highly recommend

Probably the best story yet

As usual, Simon Prebble’s voice acting was excellent. The story was a bit slow in the first half until the conspiracy became the focus and there was some action. Charlie Morewellen was not really convincing in his reasons for avoiding love and his sudden realization that he was in love with his wife and subsequent of her avoiding during the day only to make passionate love to her every night was not very realistic. I have enjoyed other of Stephanie Lauren’s stories far more.
