قصةٌ قصيرة يلفها الصمت ولكنَّها أحدثت صدىً لا يمكن احتماله فقد تطرَّقت إلى أحد الأمور المسكوت عنها في واحدٍ من المجتمعات الفقيرة والتي تسكنها أمٌ أرملة وبناتها الثلاث في غرفةٍ ضيقة تكاد لا تتسع لأنفاسهنّ.

الصمت كان له نصيب الأسد من القصة فيتصدر كل مقطع بها ويهيمن على جوها حتى صار كأنه شخصية تؤاكل وتشارب الأبطال...

فقد كان الصمت هو البداية بعد أن توفي الزوج بعد صراع طويل مع المرض مخلفًا وراءه بنات في عمر الزواج وزوجة شابة جميلة تزوجت مبكرا وترملت مبكرا وتنتظر هي الأخرى زوجًا كبناتها...

يكون أول اختراق لهذا الصمت الحزين هو ذاك الصوت الرتيب للمقرئ الكفيف الذي يمتهن ما يعمل فتصير تلاوته أشبه بالصمت الذي يقطع الصمت !!

ينقطع الصمت لأول مرة بصوت حقيقي يتمثل في اقتراح الزواج من المقرئ الأعمى بعدما انقطع الأمل بدخول رجلٍ إلى بيت النسوة ويقع الاختيار على الأم ليكون زوجًا لها، ولكن من المعروف عن الأم أنّها تؤثر فلذات كبدها وتشاركهنَّ بكلّ شيء فهل سيشاركنها بالزوج أيضًا؟!
