I very much enjoyed the world building and story. Narration was also great.

I was little disappointed that it's only the bonus content that is dual POV and narrated by both.

I did not really believe in the chemistry between the characters, annoyed with lots of gaps in the world building and to me main characters were flat and did not develop throughout the story. It was unclear this sudden appreciation of a king towards some random girl, and it became more clear only with the bonus chapter at the end. Perhaps it would have made more sense if the story was told from both characters perspective. Secondary characters were not fully developed, but I guess it's the first book of the author. I'm going to listed to the remaining books in the trilogy, hope they would get higher review.

2.5ish - Um, I mean … I finished it. I’ll be it, in the hopes that it would get better or more like the reviews I had seen about. I don’t criticise, because I have no right to. But my opinion is that I liked the beginning, the way the FMC was captured was exciting and the meeting of the MMC was fun, then … the rest was not really for me. I found a lot of choppy changes in personalities, creatures added at seemingly random instances. There were characters added for various scenes to play out for boxes to be ticked and not necessarily fitting to the story. The relationship seemed unconvincing, the speech between them not hitting the soots for me. And then the ending - I am not a fan of the third act, but can appreciate the tension requires it at times, this however again was unconvincing for me - there was a valid reason for it in my mind and it was just frustrating. I can see it has all the elements and therefore understand why it is liked, it just didn’t hit the right spots for me. Each to their own I suppose. I hope others enjoy it though.
