Not helpful for me

I had just listened to another audio book on a similar topic which laid out communication problems, gave great real world examples, and then followed through with detailed guidance on how to use more productive and less confrontational communication than the example. I am eager to learn more about actual techniques I can practice and implement to become a better communicator.
This book did not deliver that for me. It lays out lots of definitions and tells you to use the techniques it defines with minimal explanation or guidance on how to actually learn or practice them. I felt like this only gave me a list of techniques that I will have to research elsewhere if I want to learn how to actually implement them, It was also pretty dry. I can handle dry if it delivers usable information, but I ended up turning this off about 2/3 through because I did not feel like I was learning anything that would help me improve my ability to communicate or resolve conflict.

Persuading while arguing with someone, just wow!

Technique number 4 is my favorite. I wish there was more content on this topic. I’ve always been fascinated with the art of persuasion, but sometimes it is really difficult to convince people from the opposing side. Often, if you’re a person with such big ideas, you’ll always meet opposition. They are people who believe in other things (or other people), not you (obviously). So how do we convince them? For this, I believe we must tread cautiously as such can lead to more conflicts. You can’t just push your ideas on people who don’t want them or worst dislike them. Learn the basics of what to do in this particular situation from this book. Believe me, this audiobook doesn’t assume everyone can be naturally magnetic and charming. It does take everyone’s (ordinary people) challenges into account. So, you get very realistic advice here. As I said, I wish there was more to listen to about this topic. Gerard Shaw, please write more about the art of persuasion and convincing people.

Full of bromides and generic advice

Replete with wisdom such as "Be assertive" or "be patient" etc etc and so on. The techniques taught are mostly common sense broad advice like that. Frankly, it was so irritating I couldn't listen to it all.

May be helpful to some people who've never explored conflict resolution before, but someone more advanced and looking for powerful, concrete techniques.

Lovely core message

It has a lovely core message like the other books of Gerard Shaw. I think this one’s the best, so far. I hand out copies of good books regularly to friends and family and this one I’ll be happy to give them. It solves loads of relationship and communication issues between people. It is an important skill everyone should have. Additionally, I would like everyone in my life, especially those who surround me everyday to essentially learn the peaceful approach on how to coexist and solve conflicts together. I see this drastically improving relationships. Good Audible!

Good

I find it a little hard to follow in an Audible but it’s good for a quick listen. It has made me a bit more peaceful, even though I always consider myself to be one. This one's good recommendation from a friend and definitely will be recommended for a friend too. Enjoy!

Practical and insightful

Practical, insightful and well-written. It is very helpful in changing the way we approach other people and respond to them during difficult talks. It is also very helpful to find your own approach for understanding other people’s position during an argument. Yup, will recommend this book.

Gives confidence to face and deal with conflicts

Not the first audiobook I listened to from this author. I’ve had Gerard Shaw’s audiobook on assertiveness because of my issues on self-esteem and confidence. Being a people pleaser, it causes me great distress to the point of anxiety to displease others. I have been avoiding confrontations and conflicts with others all my life. It is normal to not want any of it. Who wants to argue? Who wants discord? No one! But it doesn’t mean we should always avoid it to the point of running away. Issues must be addressed, conflicts must be faced. So, I found this audiobook from the same author. After learning how to be assertive, I knew I must work on how to deal with conflicts as a real alpha assertive person through this audiobook.

Keeps you focused on how to respond objectively

It’s interesting that this particular audiobook reinforces the power of reframing the mind to win. It is great for personal development and training the mind to respond by assessing the situation and focusing on forwarding a greater cause. I think more than a communication book, this book has a deeper, more profound objective. Indeed, as Gerard Shaw had promised, communication is the best tool to forward your steps toward success. One of the best of this type of Audible or class on this topic I have found. This is useful for anyone who wants to learn how to better at conflict resolution and effective communication with others, be it their neighbor, spouse, and co-worker. I shared it with a few friends as well, who also enjoyed it. It tells the best way to be less critical and more objective in your conversations and especially during arguments.

Well-thought and well-written

This audiobook is based on a well thought framing of conflict management which is focused on mutual respect, understanding, and being a warrior for peace. Yes, we can fight through our differences by overcoming the barriers that separates us from clearly understanding each other's points. We have to understand that everyone has good intentions, at least, what each individual thought to be good at a certain point. We all stand by our truths and what we think is good for us. If both, and all parties understand the goodness in the nature of our intentions, we wouldn’t resort to hurting each other just because we each have our stand. Reaching mutual benefits is always ideas, but there are times that winning is inevitable. And if you have to win, we better win fairly and without having to hurt other people’s feelings. Yes, it is possible. This audiobook shows the beautiful yet complex art of understanding the truth behind conflicts and differences.

Props for valuable approaches

I appreciate how this audio-book drew on the author's first hand experience to bring to life different types of conflict and ways to manage through them. This approach of providing practical advice was further supported by research that provided deeper understanding of the concepts as well as credibility. Found a lot of approaches that are valuable. Great audiobook to listen to when you need a breather and be generally calmer during chaotic times.

Worth a good listen!

It states a lot of points to people's mindset and you get a good grip to a better understanding of people behaviors and how to understand and deal with many attitudes at a workplace and people you come in contact with every day in life. This book clearly shows a refined way of incorporating how to deal with people you can't stand to people whom you feel are not listening to you or your needs... it's worth to read twice and dialogue your way towards people through this audiobook. Clearly is well written, not all is perfect but it's worth a good listen. The information in this book is clear and precise.

The art of listening and understanding dynamics

This audio-book is exceedingly vital for understanding the works of the true art of conversations during crucial situations. Others may call it argument, but there is a light side of it that we often ignore. I know that’s pretty hard to grasp, as we often find ourselves in an argument even when we’re just trying to have a conversation. This audiobook will teach how to listen intently more than the need to respond. This audiobook will teach you how to manage your emotions so that you hear other people’s message very clearly. Clear and easy to read, provides a simple model for thinking about persistent conflicts, and offers a series of practices that are immediately actionable. Have helped me bring my attention to what's going on in me and in the dynamic of my relationships, and helped me see and take some concrete actions to disrupt the dynamic.

Definitely worth the listen!

What a helpful, well-written book. The author gives a clear framework for dealing with difficult relationships. Shaw's examples from his personal life as well as his clients are perfect for explaining the steps we all need to go through to work through conflict. Helpful for intractable conflicts with co-workers, family and friends. Definitely worth the listen.

Highly recommended

'7 Winning Conflict Resolution' is a good look at this often neglected aspect of human interaction. This book focuses on creating solutions to conflict that are mutually beneficial to all parties, to prevent future conflict and/or 'revenge' attitudes, as well as building on the relationship to learn and grow from conflicts. Some of the ideas seem pretty basic and based on common sense, but this makes it easier to see how they can be applied in a variety of situations. Each idea is well presented and exhaustively demonstrated with case studies and examples. In fact this may be my only complaint, that the book has some simple ideas that are demonstrated to too deep a degree. It is clearly written and without condescension, or seeming patronizing. This can be used in business, community or personal settings and there is something to help everyone.

Brilliant!

Clear, concise, brilliant. I deal with conflicts everyday and it is surprising how few resources there are that are practical and doable. Thank you, Gerard Shaw for making this an easy one while giving me so much to think about and apply. It all makes so much sense when someone lays it all out for you and gives you fantastic tools. The results are in and I can't thank you enough.

Good examples that demonstrate concepts

This is well organized, easy to listen and has examples to demonstrate the concepts. It helps you think through the different aspects of a conflict so that you can understand why the conflict is happening and what to do about it. The book gives you a methodical approach for an emotional situation, and I’m sure its advice will be invaluable for a long time. A great reference book for this field and reasonably priced!

Unique approach on the topic

Gerard Shaw's approach and practical strategies around conflict resolution are helpful and relevant, almost regardless of the scenario. I appreciate this book because it is highly relevant today that it is easy to get into conflict with anyone even through a wrong message you sent over chat. Gerard Shaw is correct. The main reason why people have conflicts is because of the lack of effectiveness of a message to express good intentions and what we really mean. A valuable Audible to have today.

Relatable scenarios

The scenarios and situations are easy to relate to. The writer has a good grasp of what conflict resolution in communication is. Very straightforward approach. The chapters flow well and the discussions make it easy to retain knowledge and wisdom you get from previous chapters. Just supports each chapter well and when combined you get a really good training course on how to respond better to all life situations and different people especially when it is difficult or crucial.
