Publisher's Summary

Learn the manipulator's game, so they can't play it with you.

Identifying covert emotional manipulation is tricky. You sense something is wrong, but you can't quite put your finger on the problem. This powerful book will reveal to you if manipulation is at play in your relationships. It will open your eyes.

You will learn 30 tactics manipulators use to get what they want. You will also learn to spot the warning signs within yourself that expose covert manipulation is taking place, even if you can't identify the specific tactics being used.

This book is geared toward romantic relationships, including those involving a pathological partner. Even so, many of the manipulation tactics are the same as those used by family members, coworkers, friends and others.

Covert emotional manipulation tactics are underhanded methods of control. Emotional manipulation methodically wears down your self-worth and damages your trust in your own perceptions. It can make you unwittingly compromise your personal boundaries and lose your self-respect and even lead to a warped concept of yourself and of reality. With your defenses weakened or completely disarmed in this manner, you are left even more vulnerable to further manipulation and psychological harm.

Empower yourself and get your life back!

This book can change your life!

After more than a year of psychotherapy I still didn't know why I felt so insecure with my boyfriend of four years. It seemed like I was sabotaging the relationship, and I couldn't stop no matter how hard I tried. I was having emotional meltdowns I couldn't explain and I felt like I couldn't trust him. My therapist said I had an insecure attachment style but that didn't feel right because I'd never been that way before. I began searching for an answer that made sense and I stumbled upon this book, thank God, because the truth of the matter was revealed: my boyfriend was using just about every manipulation tactic in this book on me. I felt immediate relief and a sense of peace because I learned I wasn't crazy---my emotions were being manipulated. Now I'm free, and I can't thank the author enough! If you're feeling perplexed by the problems in your relationship, get this book. It can change your life.

Wish it was longer!

Very direct and to the point. Enlightening! This book really needs to be expanded with more examples of manipulation (such as the detailed list of invalidating statements) along with ways to counteract each manipulation tactic.

Bias

This book shows some good strong points but it is more gender specific and doesn't cover the whole picture

Good to know

Knowledge is power. Good explanations for how and why manipulative behavior works and how to know if you are a target. Resources list.

Deaf Tone

The information was fine but the way it was presented seemed more aggressive than need be. I appreciate the content but again not someone I might readily follow instruction from. As far as story, did I miss the story? I didn’t hear one. Great assist with naming other titles to look up.

Basic, yet key, tenets to living with people

An excellent self-check and recalibration to evaluating your feelings to the behavior to others. Questions to ask yourself when you are troubled in a relationship. It is all part of the tool box of living with others in relationship.

Everyone is a Covert Emotional Manipulator

I have a sibling in a VERY destructive relationship and wanted to get this book for him. Well since hes not what you would call a avid reader i decided to download the audible version before I mailed him a paperback.

I am glad I did. I will not be purchasing the paperback. EVER

If you want to justify leaving any relationship this is the book for you. Everything from insulting someone, consoling someone, or trying to cheer them up makes the other person a manipulator. As for what to do ... leave.

I tried stuck with it until the loss of new love in exchange for familiarity became a manipulation akin to starving a rat to death.

Good luck if you purchase this. So I could only take 30 minutes of this and the reader was good.

Overview sounds like a college paper looking for a word count.
