Story
Naomi started grief counselling prepared to run for cover as soon as her therapist, Mia, pulled out a crystal or tried to align her chakras. When Mia suggests that she join a support group, Naomi is skeptical: how could she begin to describe what it felt like to lose her sister, Jo? How could she possibly share her loss and rage to a room full of people? How could she express her helplessness that Jo's killer walks free on a suspended sentence? And how could she share her deepest desire to see Jo's killer dead by her hand?

When she was five, tragedy prompted her parents to join Kabbalah, a cult-like sect of Judaism. They immersed themselves in it unreservedly–from its peculiar rituals (rolling in the snow naked to purify their sins) to the beauty of belonging to something greater than themselves. She left at eighteen–after years of abuse and living in communes in three countries–devastated and isolated, searching for meaning in her life. Today, that woman is Professor Debbie Haski-Leventhal, who specialises in finding meaning in our personal and professional lives.

Enduring sweltering heat, fending off poisonous snakes and lecherous men, chasing her camels when they get skittish and nursing them when they are injured, Davidson emerges as an extraordinarily courageous heroine driven by a love of Australia's landscape, an empathy for its indigenous people and a willingness to cast away the trappings of her former identity.

Publisher's Summary
Gripping, authentic and inspiring, Rebekah Campbell's quest to find love and happiness is packed with hilarious mistakes and insights that can help us all become better at relationships.
What will it take to follow your dream?
On the outside, Rebekah Campbell has an enviable life. She is founder of hot Sydney start-up Posse.com, writes a popular blog and gives inspirational talks at conferences for female entrepreneurs.
But when she turns off the light each night, she is alone and terrified of the future. She knows that what's important to her isn't money or start-up glory or social media followers. She wants love. She wants a family.
And she is stuck. She hasn't been on a date in 10 years. She's too embarrassed to list herself on the internet and can't bear the risk of getting rejected.
She decides to act. She'll take the tactics she's learnt building companies and apply them to finding a man. Her epic journey will take her on dates with 138 different men in Sydney, New York and San Francisco, while at the same time confronting the immense challenges of launching a business.

So pathetic I couldn't even finish it
This is a boring, self indulgent story that I had to stop listening to, as much as I tried to stick out and finish if it redeemed itself at all. The story is pathetic and so egocentric. I couldn't listen to another word when she is praying to the recently dead dad of a guy she had one date with, saying that the dead man's son was for her and to make it happen for her. Saying she lost her father in law after one date with a guy. Selfish, moronic, pathetic. Terrible account of being a single woman.

A wonderful story, albeit rather long
Rebekah is a talented story teller, and excellent narrator. The book is rather long and ending obvious of course, but I learnt some new things and found myself always listening in spare time.
Her honest, vulnerable account of this period of her life is heart warming, humours and inspiring.

The best part is the epilogue
Everyone who is dating loves to hear the dating disasters of others. But Rebekah seemed to have many great dates which didn't become second dates. I would be asking myself why, and it isn't because she didn't touch their arms or flirt. I think perhaps men guessed that she was rather busy with her business and went on to find someone with more leisure time.
Her voice isn't great, but this is her own story, so she should be the one telling it.
Six weeks of dating before sex is allowed? Who does that!
I didn't understand much of the business talk, it was interesting to know that it was all real though.
If this was just a novel, I wouldn't believe that she knew she had met 'the one' on their first date. Seemed a bit high school, but it was really true! I would advise anyone else not to wait for that fantasy feeling, but stick with someone who seems quite nice and fun to be with and that feeling can still happen as you get to know each other. Give it six months at least.
The Epilogue was the best part - full of sage advice and new ideas for me, age 70. Particularly - don't be afraid of therapy to help you figure yourself out!

Getting to know the other side
I found about this book by reading an article and also I think an interview on ABC, I was curious about going out on so many dates, which I haven’t myself. Understanding the other side of what’s on the superficial dating app’s profiles. How there’s people that are really invested into utilising the tools to make things work.
Very brave of Rebekah for putting herself out there, not afraid of being vulnerable and not giving up on herself. I enjoyed more the content when I listened to it at x1.2 speed. 😃
