About this listen
What if you could go back in time and change the course of history? What if the watershed moment you could change was the JFK assassination? 11.22.63, the date that Kennedy was shot - unless....
King takes his protagonist Jake Epping, a high school English teacher from Lisbon Falls, Maine, 2011, on a fascinating journey back to 1958 - from a world of mobile phones and iPods to a new world of Elvis and JFK, of Plymouth Fury cars and Lindy Hopping, of a troubled loner named Lee Harvey Oswald and a beautiful high school librarian named Sadie Dunhill, who becomes the love of Jake's life - a life that transgresses all the normal rules of time.
With extraordinary imaginative power, King weaves the social, political and popular culture of his baby-boom American generation into a devastating exercise in escalating suspense.

Everything else is an an absolute “down the rabbit hole” exercise in time travel and engaging to make you think what you’d do in Jake’s shoes. I’d recommend it, but I wish King would have put aside this sort of character development more in the backseat and made it more about Jake/George’s mission.

This book is classic Stephen King - he has that way of getting inside your head, anticipating what you are going to think, and being there with a reply. He takes a concept and makes it live, and makes you dwell on it, question it, wonder what would actually happen if...
Good audio books for me become an experience - the challenge for a narrator must be to make the story come alive, not just read the text, but life into the words. Craig Wasson's narration, his portrayal of the characters, was, for me, just the right balance - acting without overacting.
Loved it!
Not a narration.... an audio performance!
