About this listen

An action-packed LitRPG Apocalypse perfect for fans of The Primal Hunter, Road to Mastery, and The Ten Realms.

In a world of countless enemies, Freddy's unique power will help him thrive.

Freddy Stern, a twenty-one-year-old cashier, has lived a plain, albeit harsh life. Having been orphaned—twice—he's spent the last ten years working and staying out of trouble. His only aspiration is to save enough money to become an archhuman.

His dream gets the jump on him when he barely survives a near-death encounter and finds himself in possession of 1% Lifesteal, a bizarre talent with numerous contradictions and just as many uses.

With every dead enemy, he becomes a bit stronger, a little wiser, and a lot more ruthless. And no matter how much damage he takes, he can always put himself back together. Physically, at least.

But on his path to power, after having to look at the rotting guts of archhuman society again and again, can his talent keep his mind and soul as pristine as his body?

Or will that part of him simply remain broken...

Experience the start of this action-packed LitRPG Adventure from Robert Blaise set two hundred years after a reality-altering apocalypse. Featuring a weak-to-strong Brawler MC who never backs down, a unique power system, apocalyptic elements and more!

absoloutly phenominal

very funny and interesting tempo. comfortable relatable situations at the start, while at the same time not being predictable the whole world and magic/ability set up is well envisioned. and there's a really interesting bigger world and history developing in the back ground this should be a fantastic new series if the author can keep it up. I really look forward to the next part and wish it was out now.

Dislike the use of action packed

It is action packed by definition of story progression, but if you were like me and assumed it was similar to other books mentioned in the description you are wrong, it is very slow, very little fights and "action" besides the last hour. Overall this book is just a laying the ground work for the next books which isn't so bad but i feel very mislead by the description and quite annoyed, We have a very weak and poor orphan 21 year old man child as a MC. This series will eventually turn into something similar to Primal Hunter, however this book is the complete opposite of every book mentioned.

genuinely funny! god I love it!

I purchased this as a bit of a shot in the dark. but god am I glad I did. So good I listened to it till 3am in the morning. I've listened to over 350 books on audible.. and this is one of the rare few that have kept me at peak interest for the whole book. Really well written, well narrated and I cannot wait for the next book!

it's also absolutely hilarious. as good as dungeon crawler Carl before it got super complex in its story line. well worth listening to.

Good, will read the next one.

Ok so the book was good enough for me to listen to the whole thing and I will get the next one. What I didn’t like is the main character isn’t very likeable and very dumb. Frustratingly so. This does improve towards the end of the book. Also the magic system isn’t explained very well and is quite confusing (although not bad once you understand it). None of this is helped by the Narrator, who is intermittently yelling which takes you out of the emersion as you need to keep reaching for the volume controls. I also hate the way that the Narrator does sound effects (laughing, crying etc) but that is just me.
It’s worth a listen but needs an edit.

Direct and straight good read

Followed main characters story. Didn’t jump around a lot. Interesting world and power struggle. Can’t wait for book two!

Damit. Now I have to wait for the next one

I really enjoyed this one. It’s not quite ‘he who fights with monsters’, but it is well worth the listen.

Excited to see more

I have never read about a more pitiable main character than this poor chap. The circumstances he has to go through life and this book are almost unimaginable and it’s remarkable that he is as sane as he is considering. There is a little bit of if you struggle hard enough you won’t die of blood loss/go unconscious but I can suspend my disbelief enough to get through that. A good book and I’m excited to read more in the future. The performance was fantastic as usual.
