 三代将軍・徳川家光、幼名は竹千代。竹千代が二代将軍・秀忠の長男として生まれた折、採用されたのが後の春日局、お福であった。小早川秀秋の家来・稲葉正成の妻となったが、夫が失業し妻にも家計の負担がかかっていたのである。彼女の養育方針は放任主義により天真爛漫にのびのびと育てること。ところが秀忠夫妻に次男・国松が生まれると、お福の教育でやんちゃ丸出しの性格に育った竹千代は両親に疎まれるようになった。将軍の資質に欠けるというわけである。危機を感じたお福、伊勢参りに事よせて駿府城に立ち寄り「竹千代君に廃嫡の噂があります」と大御所・家康に訴える。「乳母の分際でご公儀に口をはさむとは何事か!」と叱りながら家康の本心は別のところにある。その後鷹狩りを口実に江戸入りした家康は二人の孫に謁見、竹千代の資質を確認すると、秀忠に向かって口上を述べた。「将軍家には竹千代君という良き後継者に恵まれ恐悦申し上げる」。かくして廃嫡の噂は霧散したのである。竹千代は将軍となった後も、お福(春日局)を実の母のように慕い生涯大切にしたという。神田紅は福岡県出身。早稲田大学商学部中退後、文学座付属演劇研究所卒業。1979年二代目神田山陽門下となり紅を名乗る。芝居講談やミュージカル講談を手がけ、女優、レポーター、エッセイストなど多才な活動で話題に。その後も文芸講談等を手がけ、常に講談の可能性を求め続けている。(C)2008 WING ENTERPRISE（C)WING ENTERPRISE Performing Arts
