Shahin Samadi, PhD, is an Iranian-born author, technologist, and educator whose work bridges personal memoir, history, and reflective inquiry shaped by lived experience. Born in Iran and spending his formative years there before immigrating to the United States, Samadi witnessed firsthand the cultural upheaval and enduring consequences of the 1979 Islamic Revolution—experiences that inform his writing with depth, context, and perspective. He holds a PhD and MS in computer science, and a BS in electrical engineering, from George Washington University, and has built a distinguished career at the intersection of science, technology, and leadership. His professional work includes senior technical and executive roles supporting major national programs, including Earth observation missions at NASA, as well as leadership positions across government and industry. He has also served as an adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins University, teaching and mentoring students in technical and systems-oriented disciplines. Samadi is the author of the two-volume series Currents of Being. Volume I: The River of Life combines personal narrative with a broader exploration of Persian civilization, modern Iranian history, and the social and political forces that have shaped Iran’s contemporary realities. Blending memoir with historical and geopolitical context, the book offers readers insight into how individual lives intersect with larger forces of change. Volume II: Eternal Wisdom expands beyond biography into reflective inquiry, drawing on Samadi’s personal journey, professional experience, and lifelong observation of human systems. The volume explores themes including human connection, migration, entrepreneurship, faith, technology, climate, history, and the search for meaning in a rapidly changing world. Rather than offering prescriptive answers, it invites readers to reflect on how understanding, resilience, and wisdom emerge over time through experience. Through his writing, Samadi offers readers historical context, lived experience, and thoughtful reflection, inviting a deeper understanding of Iran beyond headlines and a broader contemplation of how individuals navigate identity, purpose, and change within an interconnected world.
