Philip D. Hall has lived with Type 1 diabetes for more than thirty-three years, giving him deep insight into both the clinical demands and emotional realities of this condition. His journey has included frustration, burnout, renewal, and long-term balance – and he now shares what truly works in real life. With a professional background in cyber security and a lifelong fascination with technology, Philip approaches diabetes with a problem-solver’s mindset. An early adopter of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), insulin pumps, DIY looping, and hybrid closed-loop systems, his passion for progress has evolved into national advocacy for equitable access to Automated Insulin Delivery (AID) across Australia. He has appeared on ABC Radio Australia, discussing diabetes burnout alongside Professor David Simmons, Chief Medical Officer for Diabetes Australia, and continues to contribute to national discussions on technology and care. Philip has also engaged with the Minister for Health and senior policymakers in Canberra to promote fair access to AID technology. Through his writing and advocacy, Philip works to make life with diabetes less isolating and far more manageable. His books combine lived experience with practical tools, balanced thinking, and emotional honesty – helping readers worldwide feel informed, supported, and in control. “After three decades of living with diabetes, I have learnt that real control is not about perfection. It is about understanding your body, your emotions, and the tools that make life easier every single day.”
