N. G. Mays is an author, U.S. Army veteran, and lifelong student of history. After serving twenty years in the United States Army, he earned a master’s degree from Florida Institute of Technology.

His writing grows from a natural love of history and a belief that the best stories are ultimately about people: their choices, ambitions, loyalties, mistakes, and the circumstances that shape their lives. He is particularly fascinated by the fragile nature of history and the question of what might have happened if seemingly small events had unfolded differently.

That curiosity lies at the heart of his alternate-history fiction. Rather than simply changing the outcome of a famous battle or election, Mays enjoys following the consequences forward, exploring how one altered moment can reshape nations, families, and generations.

Above all, he writes the kind of sweeping historical stories he enjoys reading himself: stories filled with recognizable people living through worlds that are familiar, but not quite the history we know.
