Before joining Walgreens, Maria served as the Chief Technology Officer at McKesson, a Fortune 6 company. In this role, she was instrumental in developing the company's technology stack vision, strategy, and architectures. Her leadership was crucial in accelerating technology solutions to support vaccine distribution in the US earning her the CTO of the Year award from Tech Titans in 2021. Maria's tenure at McKesson also saw her implement structural improvements that led to a 20% reduction in business disruptions and successfully outsource technology operations to enhance business enablement, increase automation, and accelerate digital transformation. Prior to her role at McKesson, Maria’s career at AT&T spanned 11 years, where she held various technical and business leadership positions. As the President of Healthcare Solutions, she played a vital role through the pandemic to provide essential infrastructure and connectivity solutions to healthcare entities. Maria also introduced the first 5G trials in healthcare in the US. Her efforts at AT&T helped healthcare customers improve efficiency, system availability, security, and compliance while accelerating digital transformation. Maria's educational background includes a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering and a Master's in Engineering Management from Christian Brothers University, as well as Executive Education from Harvard Business School. She is deeply committed to fostering a culture of excellence within her teams, championing STEM education initiatives, and amplifying the influence of Hispanic technology leaders.
