The son of an English archaeologist and a Scottish filmmaker, Hamish Gordon was born in Sydney, Australia.
His early childhood was spent in the Far East: India, Thailand, Japan, Nepal and Tibet, with spells in England and America, and his schooling years were spent in Sydney.
At University, he pursued a Bachelor of Creative Arts, majoring in Prose Fiction and Writing for Film and Television, with minors in Literature, Film Theory, Arts Journalism, Painting, and Music.
Post graduate studies in Audio, Advanced Audio and Music Business Management preceded a number of years spent managing a recording studio in the Bondi area of Sydney, during which he had a son, played in a number of bands and pursued a variety of interests, including religious symbology and allegorical narrative.
In October 2004, he experienced the bizarre near death event that would completely alter his life and outlook, and out of which would spring a vast creative output, including The Children of the Vine. Today he lives with his partner (and a menagerie of animals) in the Northern Rivers area of New South Wales, near Byron Bay on the easternmost cape of Australia.
