Emily Maroutian is an award-winning author, poet, and philosopher. She has spent more than two decades building toward a better world, one book, one reader, one community at a time. Her work lives at the intersection of philosophy, psychology, and the complexity of being human. She has published over 15 books that translate complex psychological and philosophical ideas into accessible, grounding tools for real people navigating real lives. Her work is used by therapists, counselors, and educators in offices, workshops, and classrooms across the world. It has appeared on international bestseller lists and has been translated into multiple languages. Emily has donated countless books to incarcerated individuals through books-to-prisoners programs and has received multiple national awards recognizing her contributions to literature and self-development. Her poetry on the Armenian Genocide has been read at memorials around the world and preserved in several historical volumes. Emily also co-founded ClexaCon in 2016 and served as its first Executive Director. The convention was the first of its kind, created by and for queer women in media. It quickly grew from a small gathering into an international movement representing fans, creators, and storytellers from more than 30 countries. At its core, it was a visibility project for a community that deserved to see itself represented and celebrated. She has also spent years mentoring new writers, offering her time, knowledge, and experience freely to those finding their voice in the craft. Her academic foundation runs deep. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Comparative Religion with a certificate in Interreligious and Intercultural Relations, and is a member of the American Academy of Religion's Honorary Society. She is currently completing her Master's degree in Negotiation, Conflict Resolution, and Peacebuilding, with a focus on international and interreligious conflict. Her work is rooted in the understanding that personal healing and collective peace are not separate pursuits. They have always been the same work.
