Elizabeth Neumann is a national security expert and the author of Kingdom of Rage: The Rise of Christian Extremism and the Path Back to Peace. With more than two decades of experience in counterterrorism and public safety, Neumann has served across three presidential administrations. She began her career on the inaugural staff of the White House Homeland Security Council under President George W. Bush, advised the Office of the Director of National Intelligence during the Obama administration, and later served as Deputy Chief of Staff and Assistant Secretary for Counterterrorism and Threat Prevention at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. A lifelong Christian and political conservative, Neumann brings both professional expertise and personal conviction to her work. In Kingdom of Rage, she examines how fear-based political movements and distorted theology have contributed to polarization, extremism, and violence—and offers a framework for how people of faith can help rebuild a more peaceful and ethical civic culture. In addition to her writing, Neumann is a national security contributor for ABC News; Board Chair for the National Immigration Forum; and a Fellow of the fourth class of the Civil Society Fellowship of The Aspen Institute, and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network. She is a frequent speaker on extremism, civic responsibility, and faith in public life. She continues to explore these themes through her writing on Substack, Courageous Faith, where she reflects on the intersection of faith, public life, and the work of renewal. She lives in Colorado with her family.
