Mr. Albano was raised in Penn Valley, a small town in Northern California. He wanted to be a school teacher at an early age, so after high school, he attended Chico State and Chapman University working toward a teaching credential. Because of his love of the American West, and the history of California, as he was going through college, he built a ½ scale western town which he named “Dusty Falls.” The town was an interest to many youngsters, and their families, so he created a summer camp for kids to attend. The camp was a great success, partly because of Mr. Albano’s Sam and Beauregard stories that he created years earlier. After he received his teaching degree in 1995, he taught in the neighboring schools as a substitute teacher for a year. He told his Sam and Beauregard story to hundreds of youngsters during this time, and the kids fell in love with the story. In 1996 he was hired as a full time time teacher at Union Hill School in Grass Valley, California and has resided there ever since. During his time at Union Hill, both in fourth and fifth grades, he has delighted thousands of students with his yearly Sam and Beauregard tales. In 2023, after telling the stories for over 30 years, and with the help and encouragement of a former student, he finally published “book one” of his beloved stories. As of 2023, in his 28th year at Union Hill School, he continues to coach the cross country and track teams, brings his fourth grade classes on a two day yearly adventure down historic Highway 49 (a trip he created), and leads the East Coast trip for the graduated eighth graders every June. Mr. Albano is happily married to his wife, Anne, and he has four children, Anthony, Joseph, Colin, and Aubrey.
