D.W. Small holds a Canadian citizenship and was born in the city of Toronto, Ontario. In the early 90's he began working as a developer for a Toronto startup in the FinTech industry, and soon after evolved to consult and lead development projects for several fortune 500 companies in various industries of Healthcare, Pharma, Banking, and Manufacturing within Canada and the United States. As stated in his upcoming memoirs "The Cities That Made Me", he describes being raised in Toronto and spending time in New York, Chicago, Hawaii and Montreal and believes that individuals who cannot code should be removed from management of technology organizations. D.W. Small is currently the co-founder of a California based company ClarityPark, and is a strong advocate of developer lead organizations.
