Alyssa Rheingold, PhD, is a clinical psychologist, Professor, and Associate Director at the National Crime Victims Research and Treatment Center at the Medical University of South Carolina. She serves as Director of the Response, Recovery, and Resiliency Division of the National Mass Violence Center. Dr. Rheingold is a co-author of the Grief Recovery with Individualized Evidence-Based Formulation (GRIEF) Approach—a modular intervention grounded in established trauma and grief treatments designed to address the diverse mental health impacts of violent or sudden loss. With over 125 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, Dr. Rheingold’s work focuses on trauma, bereavement, and victimization. She has delivered more than 300 trainings on topics including the traumatic grief, mass violence, early trauma interventions, mindfulness, and evidence-based treatments for trauma. For more than 25 years, she has been deeply honored to support individuals navigating profound grief and trauma. Her work is driven by the hope of translating these experiences into guidance and healing for those dedicated to helping others.
