This is a rivals to lovers college hockey romance, featuring Avery Collins and Grayson Reed, and is the fourth book in the Arctic Titans of Northwood U series.

Avery and Grayson are on rival college hockey teams. Grayson agrees to a bet with this teammates to take Avery on a date, what he doesn’t count on is falling for Avery and dating him.

The relationship development was pretty sweet with Avery and Grayson taking it slow. There were lots of adorable moments and spicy times, unfortunately Avery finds out about the bet and their relationship crashes to the ground. Never wanted to yell at a secondary character more.

This series really good, I’ve been waiting for the audiobooks to get released but I think I’ll read the rest now as I want to know what happens with the next couple.

Story of Avery and Grayson

Grayson Reed is the captain of the Blizzard Breakers and he’s determined to beat neighbourly rivals, the Arctic Titans, this year. When his best friends, Spencer and Cole, suggest a bet if the Breakers lose the next game, Grayson finds himself trying get a date with the most closed off member of the Titans, Avery Collins. Grayson goes all out to win over the reluctant Avery, including hourly texts and daily postcards, and strangely, it becomes a labour of love for Grayson. Avery has never really connected with any of his sexual partners and is convinced there’s something wrong with him. His heart is slowly thawed by Grayson’s silly gestures and enthusiastic courting but he’ll need to be careful, they are still competitors on the ice.

This demisexual romance is probably my favourite in the series so far—it was so incredibly sweet! I liked both main characters and their different personalities and approaches to life. Avery could come across as robotic, finding it hard to see the humour in life. Grayson was bigger and louder and never faltered in his appreciation of Avery. For once the ‘big fallout’ plot device made a lot of sense and I could totally understand Avery’s bewilderment and sense of betrayal. I did wonder what happened to Spencer and would have liked an update in the epilogue. One of Hayden Hall’s trademark marathon sex scenes makes an appearance here and I think it worked well in the context of this story. 🎧 Voice actor Curtis Michael Holland gives another strong audio performance. I must be getting used to his voice because I played this on normal speed.
